Business Applications Engineer

We are seeking a versatile and experienced Business Application Engineer / Manager to take end‑to‑end ownership of our core business applications, with a focus on SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, Personio, and the Atlassian stack (Jira, Confluence). You will act as the central application owner and partner for Finance, Controlling, Sales, HR, and cross‑functional teams, ensuring a scalable, integrated, and future‑proof system landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Application Ownership: Full responsibility for SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, Personio, and Jira/Confluence, including governance, configuration, optimization, and lifecycle management.
  • SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud: Lead setup and continuous improvement of our Finance‑centric greenfield ERP; design and optimize processes (GL, AP/AR, Assets, Controlling, basic Sales); manage change requests; coordinate external SAP partners.
  • Personio: Own and enhance the HR core system; ensure efficient HR processes (employee lifecycle, time tracking, payroll‑relevant data); drive automation and integrations.
  • Integration & Automation: Build and optimize integrations across SAP, Personio, and adjacent systems; identify automation and data harmonization opportunities.
  • Stakeholder Advisory & Training: Advise business teams on system capabilities and process improvements; deliver training; provide structured second‑level support.
  • Project & Vendor Management: Lead and support implementation and optimization projects; manage external service providers and ensure delivery quality.
  • Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or similar.
  • Hands‑on experience with SAP, ideally S/4HANA Finance (Public Cloud preferred).
  • Experience with HR systems (e.g., Personio) and/or Jira/Confluence.
  • Strong ability to translate business requirements into scalable system configurations.
  • Basic understanding of integrations, APIs, and automation tools.
  • Structured, analytical working style with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience coordinating external consultants and vendors.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in international teams.
  • Fluent English; German highly beneficial.
  • Hands‑on mindset and broad understanding of business processes and system architecture.
