About the Project

STPM Power is an internally developed application designed to support Short Term Position Management within the Power trading domain. The platform enables efficient decision-making, real-time data visibility, and streamlined operational workflows for traders, and supporting functions. We are seeking a Business Analyst to contribute across the full delivery lifecycle—requirements, design, testing, and release.

Role Overview

The Business Analyst will work closely with business stakeholders (primarily in Power trading and related functions), developers, and QAs. The candidate will be responsible for translating business needs into clear functional requirements, supporting solution design, and ensuring the successful delivery of enhancements through UAT and into production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Requirements & Analysis
    • Engage with Power trading, risk, operations, and other stakeholders to understand business objectives and workflows.
    • Capture, refine, and document business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
    • Analyse existing processes and system behavior to identify gaps, improvements, and integration opportunities.
  • Solution Design & Delivery Support
    • Collaborate with developers to determine optimal design patterns and technical approaches that address business needs.
    • Break down requirements into actionable development tasks; ensure clarity and feasibility for the development team.
    • Participate in design sessions, offering business context and ensuring alignment with intended outcomes.
  • Quality Assurance & Testing
    • Work closely with QAs to define testing requirements, scenarios, and data needs.
    • Support functional testing, UAT preparation, and defect triage.
    • Validate that delivered features meet the expected functionality and performance criteria.
  • Release & Implementation Management
    • Coordinate UAT cycles, ensuring stakeholders are aligned, informed, and supported.
    • Assist in planning release schedules and manage the movement of features through environments.
    • Support go-live activities, including documentation, user communication, and early-life issue resolution.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst in financial services, energy trading, banking, or similar domains.
  • Prior exposure to Power trading or commodities trading environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and agile delivery methodologies.
  • Ability to break down complex problems into structured requirements and tasks.
  • Experience collaborating with technical teams on design and solution evaluation.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising across business, development, and QA teams.
  • Strong analytical thinking, documentation skills, and attention to detail.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Familiarity with trading systems, risk management, or related financial applications.
  • Understanding of real-time data processing, trade lifecycle workflows, or position management concepts.
  • Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar requirement-tracking systems.
