About the role

This is a key role in the team that leads the delivery of UW’s Energy Programmes, enabling the achievement of one of UW’s key strategic objectives and regulatory obligations, such as Market wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS). We are looking for someone to join our dynamic and collaborative team, to support project delivery with Business Analysis. This role provides the opportunity to work on a range of projects across the business, including an initial focus on MHHS.

Today we are a business of over 1.3 million customers, with over 3% of the domestic UK energy market.  Our UW proposition is based on offering sustainable value to customers in a multi-service bundle, and as a result we are growing at pace. We expect to increase customer numbers by 1m over the next 3-4 years.

The Commercial Energy team at UW is accountable for driving the optimisation of our energy P&L, ensuring our customers get the most from their energy provision. The team look to ensure existing customers have the best deals whilst future-proofing our energy supply and contracts. It's a team of absolute experts who thrive on cutting through the complexity to get to the heart of the commercial drivers of our success.

This role will report into the Energy Programme Manager and will work with a wide range of stakeholders across the business in Operations, Product and Technology as well as key external suppliers.

What you'll do

  • Initial focus will be on the MHHS project. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert as UW go into the Qualification Testing phase and then subsequently moving to Migration. 
  • Take a leading role in migration, data analysis, impact assessments and benefits realisation
  • Helping to shape future propositions and strategic business objectives through MHHS
  • Joining industry forums, liaising with stakeholders across the Energy industry
  • Translating industry technical design documents into business requirements
  • Working and building strong relationships with external service providers and internal stakeholders from across the business, implementing change effectively, producing positive experiences for internal users and customers
  • Formulating programme documentation as required by the MHHS programme and ensuring they are submitted on time in line with programme milestones
  • Supporting the end-to-end delivery of major industry change programmes

Here's the key skills & experience we're looking for you to bring:

  • Previous experience working in the UK Energy Market
  • Knowledge of Market wide Half-Hourly Settlements (MHHS) is essential
  • Excellent data analysis/modelling skills and experience working with big data
  • A proven ability to interpret technical industry designs into practical business requirements 
  • Experience of producing formal project documentation
  • Confident communicator with the ability to simplify complex information into useful management insights
  • Excellent stakeholder management as this role will be working closely with all areas of the business including, UW Operations, Product, Technology, Contract Management, Legal and Compliance, and Finance
