OPPORTUNITY

The Building Operator will work independently and will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of a diversified portfolio of buildings as well as periodically provide backup to other commercial building operators on rotating basis to ensure proper cross training is in place.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate, maintain, inspect, and test HVAC, electrical, plumbing, chemically treated water systems and life safety equipment
  • Respond to tenant requests and close out work orders in a timely manner
  • Maintain daily operations log and maintenance records
  • Monitor construction to ensure base building systems are protected and not altered or damaged
  • Supervise outside contractors and staff as required to ensure completion of tasks as obligated with minimal disruption to the tenants and the building.
  • Manage and maintain, providing a clean, safe appealing buildings and property at all times including but not limited to base building mechanical and maintenance areas.
  • Ensure all Life and Safety documents are current, displayed and practiced while performing duties
  • Respond to emergency calls on a 24-hour basis for a group of commercial buildings on call basis
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 1 year experience in building operations and maintenance
  • Service driven with excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and organizational skills; able to cope with changing client needs and deliver successful results within agreed upon timeframes
  • Detail oriented; able to resolve problems using facts and sound reasoning
  • Self motivated, professional and flexible; able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be friendly and courteous with professional image
  • Fire safety knowledge an asset
  • WHMIS certification an asset
  • BES level I and II an asset
  • Valid Drivers license with clean drivers abstract
