Responsibilities
  • Conduct field investigations and forensic assessments of building envelope systems to diagnose performance issues such as air/water infiltration, thermal inefficiency, or structural deterioration.
  • Develop repair and restoration design solutions for building envelope components, including technical drawings and specifications.
  • Perform site observations, field testing, and condition assessments in accordance with ASTM and AAMA standards.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure proper design integration and construction practices.
  • Prepare detailed reports, assessment summaries, and recommendations supported by data and field observations.
  • Participate in design review of new construction projects to evaluate and improve envelope performance and durability.
  • Support litigation or insurance claims through expert investigation, documentation, and testimony as needed.
  • Manage multiple projects, budgets, and schedules with a focus on client service and technical quality.
  • Stay current with industry standards, building codes, and sustainability trends related to envelope design and materials.
  • Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in building envelope consulting, forensic engineering, architecture, or related field.
  • Professional licensure (P.E. or R.A.) preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building envelope assemblies, materials, and design principles.
  • Experience with roofing systems, façade systems (masonry, EIFS, metal panels, curtain walls), waterproofing, and air barriers.
  • Familiarity with field testing and diagnostic methods (ASTM E1105, E783, E1186, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and technical reporting.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar drafting tools a plus.
  • Ability to work in the field and occasionally travel for site investigations.
