Position

Reporting to the Chief Accountant & Finance Manager and the Accounting Officer, the Bookkeeper provides basic accounting services to support corporate financial functions and reporting.

Reports to: Chief Accountant & Finance Manager and Accounting Officer

Key external relationships: Current and potential clients

Key internal relationships: Chief Accountant & Finance Manager, Accounting Officer, Management, all lawyers and other support staff.

Salary range: Competitive, varying based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.

Working hours: 8.30 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday

Main duties of the role

Accounting

Post payments received from clients (both Lao account and management account);
Post expenses (banks and petty cash for Lao account and Management account);
Complete VAT receipts for clients and deliver, if required;
Update Depreciation Schedule for Lao Accounts and post to accounting system;
Post prepayments, Accruals, Accounts Payable;
Complete routine transactions, such as cash withdrawals, bank transfers and deposits;
Pay bills, if required;
Review receipts posted;
Review expenses posted;
Review disbursements posted (both expenses and received);
Undertake other duties as may be required from time to time.

Requirements

Essential skills & experience:

Holds a tertiary degree in accounting or another degree that includes significant studies in this discipline;
Proven ability to use APIS accounting system;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and in Lao;
At least three years’ experience working as a bookkeeper/accountant, including experience with data entry in accounting software program;
Able to multitask;
Experience in working with people from varied cultural backgrounds;
Knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel at a high level;
Reliable and punctual; and
Has initiative and able to make decisions independently.
