Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role will be to manage and maintain the business’ financial records within Xero. In addition to the core bookkeeping tasks, the successful candidate will have the opportunity for development such as assisting with project work, supporting investigations into cost improvement initiatives, and helping improve financial processes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Core Bookkeeping Responsibilities:


  • Maintain Accurate Financial Records: Record, track and manage daily financial transactions within Xero, ensuring accuracy and completeness;

  • Reconcile Accounts: Perform various reconciliations for bank accounts and other relevant financial ledgers within Xero;

  • Prepare Financial Reports: Generate financial reports such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries for internal and external use;

  • Expense Tracking: Monitor and categorize company expenses accurately, ensuring they are aligned with the company’s budgeting standards;

  • Assist with Payroll: Collaborate with the payroll team by maintaining employee records and ensuring that payroll data is recorded correctly in the financial system

Additional Opportunities:

 

  • Project Support: Participate in and assist with finance-related project work, system improvements, and audits as required;

  • Cost Improvement Initiatives: Collaborate with the finance team and other departments to investigate potential cost-saving measures and support the implementation of cost improvement initiatives;

  • Process Improvement: Identify and suggest improvements to financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy;

  • Budget Assistance: Support in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, providing detailed financial data to assist with forecasting and planning
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and assist with the preparation of documents for audits and financial reviews.

Requirements:

 

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, with strong knowledge of Xero is desirable but not essential;

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, particularly in maintaining financial ledgers;

  • High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills;

  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and support various finance projects simultaneously;

  • Strong problem-solving skills with an analytical mindset;

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with different departments.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Professional certification (e.g., AAT, ICB) not necessary but is preferred;

  • Experience with financial processes improvement and supporting cost-saving initiatives


  • Knowledge of payroll processes.

  • Preferred time zones +/- 2 GMT
