Book Bindery and Indigo Digital Press Operator
TLDR
Operate book bindery and HP Indigo digital press equipment, ensuring high-quality production standards and collaborating with teams to meet tight deadlines.
- Setup machines for case binding, perfect binding, saddle stitching, and digital print jobs.
- Monitor and adjust production quality, perform color management, and routine maintenance
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs
- Collaborate with production teams to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas; follow safety protocols and keep accurate records
- Proven experience with HP Indigo digital presses (Series 3, 4, or 5) and/or book bindery equipment – perfect binders, case/book making systems, and saddle stitching systems.
- Knowledge of digital print workflows, substrates, color management, and bindery processes
- Ability to read and interpret job specifications
- Mechanical aptitude, strong problem-solving skills, and an eye for detail
- Commitment to quality craftsmanship and teamwork
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and maintain mobility to crouch, kneel, reach, bend, and perform repetitive actions with hands and arms. Flexibility to work assigned shifts and occasional overtime.
- Experience with Mueller-Martini, Horauf, GMP, Mitabook, Diamant equipment, and/or automated bindery lines
- Smythe-sewn binding experience is a plus.
- HP Indigo certification or formal training
- Background in commercial print, book manufacturing, or packaging environment
- Ability to train or mentor junior operators
