What You’ll Do:

In the Sr. BMS Hardware Systems Engineer role, you will lead the airborne electronic hardware (AEH) systems development processes and execution for Archer’s high voltage Battery Management System (BMS) electronics — ensuring that the hardware, sensing, and control circuitry meet the stringent safety, reliability, and certification standards required for electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. You will develop and manage comprehensive electronic hardware requirements along with design description documentation. Your work will directly enable the certification and safe operation of Archer’s battery systems powering the next generation of sustainable urban air mobility.

  • Collaborate with various engineering disciplines to support hardware implementation of  high-reliability, safety-critical systems for aircraft design
  • Develop comprehensive hardware requirements and traceability matrices aligned with system and certification requirements (DO-254, ARP4754A)
  • Define and decompose hardware system requirements with traceability through overall system architecture
  • Develop robust system/subsystem interface definitions
  • Coordinate with regulators and DERs on the development and review of AEH certification substantiation artifacts
  • Work closely with the electrical design team to ensure the product meets desired business requirements
  • Participate in design reviews, hardware qualification, and root cause analysis to ensure robust and certifiable hardware performance

What You Need:

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, or electronic hardware qualification—preferably in aerospace, automotive, or other regulated industries
  • Strong understanding of mixed-signal electronic design, including analog sensing, power electronics, and microcontroller-based systems
  • Experience with Polarion or other requirements management tools
  • Knowledge of design assurance and verification methodologies per DO-254 or ISO 26262
  • Familiarity with hardware and system certification processes under FAA or EASA frameworks
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with high-voltage BMS electronics and battery pack integration
  • Familiarity with ARP4754A development lifecycle and certification planning
  • Working knowledge of lithium-ion battery characteristics and safety standards.
  • Experience interfacing with regulatory authorities or DERs for certification compliance
