Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of a new all composite rotor blade
  • Create 3D models of composite parts
  • Generate laminate definitions for composite components
  • Create 2D drawings of components to support manufacturing and procurement, to include geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Perform tolerance stack-ups of assemblies to ensure fit and performance
  • Generate bill of materials as required for the program and ensure accuracy
  • Release drawings, models, and documentation through configuration management tools
  • Set up program architecture for drawing management and release
  • Ensure any designs comply with company specifications and meet programs requirements
  • Perform design reviews, provide technical input related to dynamic systems, and participate in drawing release process
  • Establish and enforce best practices for critical aerospace components
  • Support program needs for conceptual design layouts and trade studies

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in design of aircraft dynamic systems and composite structures
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret CAD models
  • Strong foundation in GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards
  • Ability to perform tolerance stack-ups
  • Understanding of common aerospace materials and fabrication techniques
  • Familiarity with common aerospace standards (NAS, MS, MIL-STD, AS9100)
  • Experience working with PLM systems (ENOVIA, Teamcenter)

Preferred:

  • Masters in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
  • 12+ years of experience in rotor blade or propeller design
  • Proficient in NX and Teamcenter
  • Knowledge of common manufacturing methods for composite structures
  • Familiarity with typical defects and common inspection methods on critical composite structures
  • Understanding of blade dynamics and aerodynamics and their influence on design

This position will require travel up to 10% to Archer facilities or supplier facilities.
