Description:

We are seeking a Bioinformatics Software Engineer Intern with a passion for developing and applying methods to improve data and inventory management. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, executing, and implementing efficient methods to streamline data analyses, as well as tracking data and managing electronic inventory. The candidate will work with innovative technology and collaborate with a highly talented and motivated team to address unmet research and medical needs.

Responsibilities:

• Write custom algorithms to access and parse electronic inventory data.
• Generate custom reports based on inventory information to provide insights and recommendations to R&D scientists.
• Collaborate with R&D scientists to identify their data analysis needs and provide technical guidance on how to optimize data workflows and analysis pipelines.
• Build, test, and deploy custom algorithms to automate redundant R&D data analyses, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate data from multiple sources and platforms, ensuring data consistency and integrity.
• Keep up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends in bioinformatics and data science, continuously identifying opportunities to optimize data analysis processes and software applications.
• Contribute to team discussions, sharing knowledge and expertise with other team members to promote best practices in software engineering and data analysis.

Required Qualifications:

• Degree in BSc (including current undergraduates) or MSc with 2+ years of experience in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related disciplines.
• Understanding and experience in applying software development best practices.
• Fluency in Python or R is required; other languages are a plus.
• Must be self-motivated with a positive “can do” attitude and have good project management skills.
• Strong communication and organization skills.

The hourly range for this full-time position is $25 - $30. Work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training determine our salary ranges determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The ranges displayed on each job posting reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries but are subject to change if the leveling of the role is adjusted.
