Billing Operations Specialist

About the Role

fal is building the future of generative media. We are seeking a Billing Operations Specialist to ensure accuracy, reliability, and scalability across the billing lifecycle. This role sits at the intersection of Finance, Customer Success, and Engineering, with ownership of billing operations from contract setup through invoicing, dispute resolution, and collections.

Key Responsibilities

Billing Operations & Quality Control

  • Review and validate new contracts to ensure correct billing configuration and automation.
  • Oversee monthly invoice generation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.
  • Manage exceptions such as credits, adjustments, and non-standard invoicing scenarios.

Stakeholder Support & Issue Resolution

  • Serve as the primary billing point of contact for Account Executives and Account Managers.
  • Investigate and resolve billing inquiries, disputes, and payment discrepancies.
  • Proactively identify issues and drive process automation improvements, partnering closely with the cross-functional team.

Collections & Accounts Receivable

  • Manage enterprise customer onboarding and submissions through vendor procurement portals.
  • Oversee collections and accounts receivable using Tesorio, including payment reconciliation and reporting.
  • Maintain the billing support inbox and ensure timely, high-quality responses to customer inquiries.

Qualifications

  • 4–5 years of experience in billing operations, finance operations, or related roles within a high-growth SaaS environment.
  • Strong understanding of automated and usage-based billing systems; comfort working with API-driven tools.
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing time-sensitive processes independently.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to identify issues before they escalate.
  • Experience creating documentation and scalable processes to improve operational efficiency.

Compensation

  • $130,000 - $180,000 + equity + comprehensive benefits package

  • We are currently hiring in downtown San Francisco.
