Bilingual Spanish Special Education Tutor (Literacy & Math)

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Lawndale, CA

Details:

• In-Person Tutoring in Lawndale, CA
• Schedule: 10 hours, 2 sessions a week for 1.15 hours
• Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

• Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
• Experience supporting elementary students in foundational literacy and math
• Strong knowledge of phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, sight words, and reading fluency
• Solid understanding of foundational math skills, including number sense, place value, and multi-digit addition/subtraction with regrouping
• Skilled in using multisensory, hands-on, and visual learning strategies
• Ability to provide structured writing support, including sentence formation and organization
• Patient and confident in supporting students who experience frustration or task avoidance
• Strong classroom management, organization, and communication skills
• Comfortable providing homework support while reinforcing foundational skills
• Credential not required; tutoring or intervention experience preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy skills, including phonics, decoding, letter–sound correspondence, blending, and sight word recognition
• Improve reading fluency and comprehension through repeated practice, visual supports, and engaging short reading activities
• Support writing development through guided writing, sentence starters, modeling, graphic organizers, and structured routines
• Assist with handwriting, spelling of simple words, and basic grammar skills
• Reinforce foundational math concepts, including number sense, place value, and multi-digit addition and subtraction with regrouping
• Use manipulatives, visual models, and step-by-step instruction to strengthen math understanding
• Provide consistent review and real-life application of math skills to promote retention and independence
• Incorporate self-regulation strategies, structured breaks, and positive reinforcement to manage frustration
• Integrate student interests (e.g., dinosaurs, space, aliens, drawing, running, hiking) into lessons to increase engagement and motivation
• Provide homework support while maintaining a supportive, confidence-building learning environment
