About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Gardena, CA

Details:

• In-Person Tutoring in Gardena, CA
• Schedule: 10 hours, 1 session a week for 1.15 hours
• Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

• English/Spanish bilingual tutor required.
• Experienced in supporting elementary students with Autism and IEP services.
• Strong background in foundational literacy instruction, including phonemic awareness, phonics, CVC decoding, sight words, and reading fluency.
• Skilled in structured literacy approaches with explicit, systematic instruction and guided practice.
• Knowledgeable in supporting handwriting and fine motor development through targeted strategies and scaffolded writing support.
• Patient, structured, and engaging, with the ability to build independence in reading and written expression.
• Comfortable collaborating with related service providers (Speech, OT, SPED) and aligning instruction with IEP goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, phonics, blending/segmenting sounds, sight words, and decoding.
• Strengthen reading fluency and comprehension through guided reading, repeated practice, and connected text activities.
• Support handwriting development and fine motor coordination using structured practice and adaptive strategies as needed.
• Implement scaffolded writing activities, including sentence starters, visual word banks, and modeling to promote independent written responses.
• Incorporate hands-on activities and technology-based learning to maintain engagement and motivation.
• Conduct a tutor assessment to determine instructional level and guide lesson planning.
• Track progress and adjust instruction to support continued literacy growth and confidence.
