The Benefits Lead is responsible for leading the analysis, administration, and continuous improvement of employee benefit programs, including health and welfare, retirement, wellness, and leave of absence programs. This role serves as a subject matter expert, ensuring compliance, data integrity, and operational excellence while supporting strategic benefits initiatives and cross-functional projects.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on benefit programs, providing advanced guidance to HR partners, employees, and leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Director to evaluate current benefits programs for competitiveness and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead the administration of complex benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and wellness plans.
  • Own the administration and oversight of the company’s 401(k) retirement plan, including compliance, employee education, vendor management, and audit support.
  • Analyze benefits data and trends to identify opportunities for cost savings, improved employee experience, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including performance monitoring, issue resolution, and participation in vendor selection and renewal processes.
  • Oversee benefits compliance activities, including ACA reporting, ERISA filings, nondiscrimination testing, and audits.
  • Lead the planning and execution of annual open enrollment, including project management, system configuration, communications, and training.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and documentation for benefits processes.
  • Collaborate with Payroll, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure accurate processing and alignment with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the implementation of new benefit programs, systems, or enhancements, including testing, training, and change management.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior benefits team members.
  • Prepare and present reports and dashboards to HR leadership, offering insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Provide backup support for payroll administration.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; CEBS or related certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in benefits administration and analysis.
  • In-depth knowledge of benefits regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, FMLA).
  • Advanced proficiency with HRIS and benefits administration systems; experience with various systems i.e. UKG, Paylocity, Employee Navigator preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
