Lead the setup and launch of a new pharmacy in the Netherlands, ensuring compliance and operational excellence while managing a growing team and safeguarding patient safety.

Ready to revolutionize healthcare, making it faster and more accessible than ever before?

How we started:

Back in 2013, our founder Dwayne D’Souza saw an opportunity to give people faster and more convenient access to medications using technology. We've grown rapidly since our inception, without any external funding whatsoever – achieving profitability through innovation and a highly disciplined approach to growth.

Where we are now:

We’ve earned the trust of millions of people worldwide through our top-selling products and well-known brands: MedExpress, Dermatica, ZipHealth, RocketRX, and Levity. A lot of our success is down to having our own pharmacies, manufacturers and products – spearheaded by leading in-house medical teams, researchers and pharmacists. Between 2023 and 2024 our global revenue tripled; £60m to £180m (200% year-on-year growth). We're looking to do the same in 2025; move into new territories and further accelerate our growth journey. There’s never been a more exciting time to join HeliosX.

Where we’re going:

Over the next five years, you’ll support our goal to become a world-leading healthcare partner, deepening our customer relationships, expanding into new countries, and diversifying our product portfolio to treat more conditions. You’ll be part of helping more people access prescription treatments and, most importantly, making personalised care better, quicker and easier for everyone.

Come be a part of making our dream of easier and faster healthcare a reality!

About the role:

We’re looking for an experienced and highly organised Senior Pharmacist to lead the setup and launch of our new pharmacy in the Netherlands, which will serve our German customer base initially before we launch our offering to Dutch patients next year. If you care about getting things right, building safe systems, and running a compliant high-volume dispensary, this is a chance to have real influence from day one.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of the full licensing and registration process, work closely with IGJ, KNMP and local authorities, and ensure the site is inspection ready. Once licensed, you’ll act as the Responsible Pharmacist (Houder van de Vergunning) and lead a growing team of pharmacists and support staff. You’ll oversee clinical governance, safeguard dispensing quality, and set a strong safety culture across a fast-moving digital pharmacy operation.

This is a non patient facing role focused on clinical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational leadership during setup, launch and ongoing scale.

What you'll be doing:

Regulatory setup and licensing

  • Lead the process for obtaining all pharmacy and operational licenses (IGJ, KNMP, municipality).

  • Develop and implement SOPs to meet registration and inspection requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with the Dutch Medicines Act, GDP, and cross-border mail-order regulations.

  • Act as the Responsible Pharmacist once licensed.

  • Liaise with regulators, authorities, and external consultants to maintain inspection readiness.

Clinical leadership and patient safety

  • Oversee pharmaceutical operations, clinical governance, and safe dispensing.

  • Review complex prescriptions and manage clinical interventions.

  • Ensure all activity aligns with Dutch, German and EU legislation and internal protocols.

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and professional accountability.

  • Carry out and record pharmaceutical assessments as needed.

Team leadership and development

  • Line manage pharmacists and pharmacy support staff.

  • Recruit and induct new team members during setup and growth phases.

  • Build a collaborative culture that prioritises safety and consistency.

  • Conduct performance management, feedback, and development planning.

  • Delegate effectively to maintain workflow and support professional development.

Compliance and quality assurance

  • Maintain full adherence to KNMP standards and guidance.

  • Oversee SOP implementation and continuous review across the dispensary.

  • Keep accurate records required by regulators.

  • Manage audits, inspection prep, and compliance reporting.

  • Investigate errors and near misses, implement corrective actions, and share learning.

Operational management

  • Monitor workflow, queue management, and resource allocation in a high-volume environment.

  • Oversee stock management, recalls, and returns processes.

  • Work closely with operations leadership to deliver KPIs.

  • Support process improvements and system upgrades across the pharmacy.

  • Contribute to operational planning as the site scales.

Professional development and ethics

  • Maintain your own professional registration and CPD.

  • Lead by example with professional conduct and pharmacy ethics.

  • Stay current with Dutch, German and EU legislation and best practice.

  • Cascade relevant updates and training to the wider team.

Who you are:

Experience

  • BIG-registered pharmacist with KNMP membership.

  • 5+ years post registration pharmacy experience within NL, DE or EU.

  • Proven experience managing pharmacists or healthcare teams.

  • Experience in high-volume or community pharmacy.

  • Strong understanding of the Dutch Medicines Act, IGJ compliance and GDP.

  • Confident working with prescription and dispensing systems.

Desirable

  • Experience in online or distance-selling pharmacy.

  • Familiarity with digital systems such as Pharmacom, CGM Apotheek or ERP tools.

  • Experience with cross-border operations between Netherlands and Germany.

  • Background in training or mentoring pharmacy staff.

Skills

  • Strong organisational and operational oversight.

  • Meticulous attention to detail in clinical and regulatory work.

  • Ability to make clear decisions under pressure.

  • Strong communication skills in Dutch, German and English.

  • Commitment to continuous improvement and patient safety.
