LVIS

Backend / Full-Stack Engineer (High-Impact / Special Projects)

TLDR

Join a dynamic team to solve critical product and infrastructure challenges in neurological care with a fast-paced, high-impact approach using innovative AI-driven solutions.

About the Company

LVIS Corporation is on a mission to transform neurological care through AI-driven software. Our platform helps physicians process large-scale EEG and neurological data more efficiently, improving diagnostic speed and patient outcomes. We are a global team with headquarters in Palo Alto, California, and an office in Seoul (Gangnam), working at the intersection of healthcare, AI, and scalable cloud systems.

About the Role

We are looking for a high-impact engineer to join a small, fast-moving special projects team focused on solving critical product and infrastructure challenges. This is not a typical backend role. You will work across backend systems, data pipelines, and product features to rapidly deliver high-value functionality used in real clinical environments. We are looking for someone who moves fast, takes ownership, and uses AI effectively, while maintaining strong engineering fundamentals and code quality.

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship backend and full-stack features end-to-end with high ownership
  • Use Python for data processing and lightweight service development (e.g., uploader tools, pipelines)
  • Design and improve data pipelines for large-scale medical data (EEG, signals, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain APIs, services, and systems for data ingestion, processing, and storage
  • Work with distributed cloud infrastructure across multiple regions (AWS-based)
  • Rapidly prototype and iterate using AI tools while maintaining clean, scalable architecture
  • Identify bottlenecks and aggressively improve performance, reliability, and developer velocity
  • Collaborate closely with product, ML, and leadership to prioritize and execute quickly

Qualifications

  • Strong Python skills for building backend services, data processing pipelines, and internal tools (e.g., uploaders, integrations)
  • 3–7+ years of experience building real-world backend systems (flexible for exceptional candidates)
  • Strong fundamentals in system design, data structures, and backend architecture
  • Ability to move quickly and independently with high ownership
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., coding assistants) to accelerate development
  • Good judgment in balancing speed vs. long-term maintainability (avoiding tech debt)
  • Comfortable working across backend and frontend when needed

Who This Role Is For

This role is a good fit if you:

  • Enjoy solving hard problems quickly
  • Take ownership rather than waiting for direction
  • Care about building things properly, not just making them work
  • Want to have direct impact on product and users

This role may not be a good fit if you:

  • Prefer highly structured, slow-moving environments
  • Avoid ambiguity or ownership
  • Focus strictly on one layer (backend only, frontend only, etc.)

Requirements

Required Skills

  • Backend: Java (Spring Boot), Python
  • Infrastructure: AWS (S3, EKS, etc.)
  • Databases: SQL / NoSQL
  • Frontend: Vue.js

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with large-scale data processing or distributed systems
  • Experience with asynchronous systems (Kafka, job queues, etc.)
  • Experience in healthcare, medical data, or regulated environments
  • Interest in AI/ML systems or working alongside ML teams

Benefits

Benefits

  • Flexible working hours (start between 7:30–9:00 AM)
  • Public holidays and Labor Day off

  • Modern office with high-performance equipment
  • Early leave on birthdays
