When you apply to Sierra, you join an ecosystem. We connect highly vetted Brazilian talent with growing US companies and work closely with our partners to ensure strong alignment on expectations, culture, and technical bar.
Our hiring partner started in early 2022 to solve a critical operational problem in the returns processing space.
While most innovation focused on making returns easier for consumers, this created more returns without fixing the challenges inside warehouses. Operators were relying on pen and paper, whiteboards, and spreadsheets to process returned items — a clear opportunity for a more reliable, scalable system.
Today, the company supports dozens of logistics providers across multiple facilities, serves hundreds of brands, and has achieved exceptionally low churn and strong user satisfaction. They are preparing for a Series A round later this year.
We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to help unblock feature development and scale a production system that already handles real volume.
This is a hands-on role focused on backend development — not an architect-only position. You’ll work across different backend areas, contributing directly to feature delivery, performance improvements, and integrations.
Develop and maintain backend services primarily written in Go
Build and evolve REST APIs consumed by web and mobile applications
Work with Postgres, including query performance and data modeling
Contribute to feature development across different backend domains (core services and backend-for-frontend)
Improve system performance and reliability, especially ahead of peak usage periods
Build and maintain automated tests
Collaborate closely with product and engineering in a two-week sprint cadence
Pick up tickets independently and move work forward with minimal oversight
Senior-level backend experience (typically 5+ years; more is welcome)
Strong experience with server-side development
Go experience preferred, but not mandatory for exceptional engineers coming from other backend languages (Java, Python, etc.)
Solid understanding of REST APIs and relational databases (Postgres)
Comfortable working in a startup environment with evolving requirements
Ability to work autonomously, communicate clearly, and ask for help when needed
Bias toward action and ownership
Previous experience in startup or fast-paced product teams is highly valued
Prior experience working with Go in production
Familiarity with cloud environments (GCP or similar)
Experience improving performance in existing systems
Competitive senior-level salary (flexible for exceptional candidates)
Equity
Healthcare allowance
Work-from-home setup stipend
Unlimited vacation (minimum 2 weeks encouraged)
Company off-sites twice a year
100% remote work environment
A highly collaborative, low-ego engineering culture
The opportunity to work on systems that impact real-world operations
Work on a backend that already matters — not a greenfield experiment
Join a technically strong, emotionally intelligent team
Build systems that must perform under real operational constraints
Be part of a company with strong growth, low churn, and high user trust
Enjoy a remote culture that values focus, trust, and sustainability
