Backend Engineer (Remote - India)

In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems that power high-performance web and distributed applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including front-end developers, product managers, and data analysts to deliver robust, reliable, and efficient solutions. This position provides opportunities to influence system architecture, improve development practices, and mentor peers while working in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Accountabilities

• Design and implement highly scalable backend endpoints and distributed web services.
• Lead the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, solution design, development, quality assurance, and maintenance.
• Write clear design documentation and translate product requirements into technical solutions.
• Mentor and guide team members on best practices, coding standards, and system design.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across geographies to solve complex technical problems.
• Introduce and evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and tools to improve backend systems.
• Ensure high system reliability, performance, and maintainability with proper monitoring and alerting.

Requirements

• 2+ years of industry experience in backend development, including 1–2 years in senior positions building large-scale applications.
• Strong knowledge of distributed web application development, database modeling (SQL or NoSQL), and RESTful service design.
• Proficiency in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
• Experience with backend programming languages and frameworks, ideally Ruby on Rails, Node.js, or similar.
• Familiarity with containerization, orchestration, and cloud platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, GCP) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to own projects end-to-end, work independently, and thrive in ambiguous situations.
• Bonus: Experience with AI-native workflows, microservices architecture, caching systems like Redis, and search systems like Elasticsearch.
