About the Role  

We are seeking a Backend Developer to join our Security Operations & Infrastructure (SOI) team. This role functions as a key technical resource, driving backend development & DevOps oversight within the SOI team. This role requires a skilled engineer who can develop secure backend API systems, automate critical DevOps processes, and advise junior developers on best practices. The ideal candidate combines strong software development expertise with a deep understanding of application security knowledge to build, maintain, and secure internal applications and integrations. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop backend automations and custom API routers for custom internal applications.  
  • Design, develop, and document API integrations with SaaS applications. 
  • Build standardized logging & error handling modules that can be leveraged across other custom applications and integrated with SIEM tools. 
  • Administer DevOps pipelines and code repositories for internal applications. 
  • Enforce secure & scalable coding practices across internal applications & teams. 
  • Identify & remediate security vulnerabilities and perform code reviews for assigned applications. 
  • Advise junior developers and vendor development teams on secure coding practices, application security fundamentals, and OWASP compliance.  
  • Develop SQL and database scripts to ensure proper application integration with existing data systems. 
  • Provider Tier 3 technical support for complex development issues. 

Requirements

Minimum Requirements & Competencies 

  • 3 years of total software/backend development experience. 
  • 2 years of active development experience with one of the following languages (in order of preference): 
  • Golang 
  • Rust 
  • C# 
  • Expert understanding of Git and strong understanding of branching strategies, repository management, and collaborative development workflows. 
  • Ability to develop custom http route servers for backend APIs. 
  • Hands on experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub. 
  • Deep understanding of OWASP 10. 
  • Understanding of core cybersecurity concepts such as least privilege, confidentiality, availability, etc. 
  • Familiarity with development in cloud environments. 
  • Demonstrated ability to independently learn, research, and solve complex technical problems with minimal supervision 
  • Professional and concise verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adjust based on the target audience (e.g. customers, internal staff, business partners, and external vendors). 
  • Familiar with HIPPA compliance and other compliance frameworks (i.e. ISO, NIST, CIS, etc.). 
  • Ability to work outside standard business hours to respond to critical outages, security incidents, and to execute changes that cannot be deployed during working hours. 
  • Personal electronic device (i.e. smartphone) to receive and respond to urgent outage or security alerts. 
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and carry/answer a work phone per the on-call schedule. 
  • Personal vehicle to travel between worksites. 
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of software/backend development experience 
  • 3+ years of active development experience with one of the following languages (in order or priority) 
  • Golang 
  • Rust 
  • C# 
  • Hands on experience administering/developing CI/CD automations tools such as ADO Pipelines or Github Actions 
  • Experience custom building backend http servers and architecting routes for internal applications 
  • Proven experience leading small-medium development projects from design to deployment 
  • Ability to containerize applications user Docker or other container technologies. 
  • Experience with shell scripting (Bash/PowerShell) to automate processes for owned services. 

 

Work Environment  

The position is based in-person at the Headquarters location and may require travel to all Mindful Support Services office locations, including occasional out-of-state business trips. The position also requires off-site travel as needed to support with job requirements such as projects, equipment/supply needs, and repairs.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000
