Back End Software Engineer

Location: Raleigh, NC - Hybrid: Onsite 3 days / Week

Every day, Pendo’s flagship analytics platform processes over 12.5 billion events and creates over 225,000 data analytics results. Every hour we ingest over 100+ million web and mobile events. Then in a fraction of a second we query hundreds of terabytes (or more) of data in order to respond to our users’ actions—allowing users to discover valuable insights about their products. We are currently looking for an experienced Back End Engineer to join our Engineering Team.

Deliverables (what you’ll do):

• Design solutions to mid-size, fairly complex, ambiguous technical problems
• Independently lead mid-size projects or components of larger initiatives, from design through implementation and testing
• Write maintainable, quality code at a steady velocity
• Implement automated unit and api tests to accompany code changes
• Adhere to Pendo’s coding standards and practices
• Participate in code reviews, technical design sessions, and team ceremonies
• Collaborate closely with teammates and cross-functional partners

Qualifications (what you have):

• Minimum 2 years of experience in back-end or full-stack engineering, with proficiency in a compiled language such as Go, C, C++, Java, etc.
• Proven experience conducting code reviews, troubleshooting code, and writing unit tests
• Experience successfully collaborating with others to design performant systems
• Obtained a 4-year technical degree or equivalent industry experience

 Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience writing Golang (Go) or C code 
• Experience with building performant REST APIs and working with relational databases
• Exposure to event-driven architecture and distributed systems
• Experience in cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience building integrations or working with third-party APIs (e.g., Salesforce, Slack, Segment)
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-first mindset

Compensation

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide.

The expected salary range for this role to be performed in Raleigh, North Carolina is $105,000 - $120,000.

Individual pay rate decisions, including offers made within and over the expected salary range, are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.
