Our organization is seeking a Contract Engineer to support a Lead Engineer in building and extending an internal AWS-based platform that enables rapid innovation at scale.

The platform focuses on automating the provisioning, management, and governance of AWS accounts to allow teams to safely experiment, prototype, and innovate in isolated cloud environments. This role is hands-on and delivery-focused, contributing directly to new feature development, automation workflows, and platform reliability.

The contractor will work closely with a senior technical lead and will not be expected to own architecture independently but must be capable of executing high-quality engineering work with minimal oversight.

Requirements

  • Develop and enhance automation workflows for managing AWS accounts at scale
  • Implement infrastructure and platform features using Infrastructure as Code based in Terraform
  • Enhance backend services and APIs that support account lifecycle management
  • Build reusable code components to enhance features such as ingress connections and management of Web Application Firewalls (WAFs)
  • Integrate security, access control, cost management, and guardrails into automated workflows
  • Collaborate with the Lead Engineer on design decisions and implementation approaches
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and technical documentation
  • Troubleshoot and improve reliability, scalability, and usability of the platform

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong, multi-year, hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services
    • Especially IAM, Organizations, multiple account architectures, networking, and security functions.
  • Terraform in an enterprise environment, module creation and use
  • Authoring scripts with Bash, PowerShell, and Python
  • Usage of Git and source control procedures
  • Experience with continuous integration (CI/CD) systems such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions
  • Solid understanding of cloud security, identity, and governance concepts
  • Prior experience building automation, internal tooling, or platform services
  • Proficient in Docker and Containerization, Kubernetes a plus
  • Understand Internet networking and WAFs such as Cloudflare
  • Ability to work on several work streams with excellent time management
  • Able to formulate and execute solutions to take into consideration the needs of multiple stakeholders
  • A positive, constructive approach with an emphasis on collaboration and good execution
  • Able to mentor and lead other members of the team
