AVP, Marketing & Community

AI overview

Transform the marketing function into an AI-enabled growth engine while building a high-impact community of higher education leaders and ensuring alignment with sales and executive teams.

At SimpsonScarborough, we spend our days building brands that endure, inspire, and elevate the all-important work of colleges and universities in shaping our future. Recognized as a leader in the higher-ed marketing industry, our company runs a fully remote team of approximately 65 employees coast to coast.

The Associate Vice President (AVP), Marketing & Community is a senior leadership role for a marketer ready to lead change, drive growth, and bring higher education leaders together around a clear point of view. This role turns insight, reputation, and relationships into measurable B2B demand and long-term growth, while building a connected community that helps shape the conversation across the sector.

This is a hands-on B2B leadership role, where success is defined by lead quality, pipeline contribution, and the strength of long-term relationships, not activity or volume. The AVP ensures marketing is tightly aligned with Sales and Growth, operating with speed, clarity, and accountability in a high-value, high-consideration market, while transforming the function into a disciplined, AI-enabled growth engine that fuels new business, strengthens renewals, and scales SimpsonScarborough’s influence over the next phase of growth.

What you’ll do
• Build and activate a high-impact community, convening higher education leaders around shared challenges and insight, and turning that community into a meaningful source of trust, connection, and long-term growth for SimpsonScarborough.
• Own B2B demand generation and pipeline impact, with clear accountability for high-quality MQL and SQL generation, long-cycle lead nurture, and sales enablement in a complex purchasing environment.
• Modernize the marketing function through AI and automation, embedding intelligent tools and workflows that materially increase speed, consistency, and effectiveness across content, insight, research, SEO, and go-to-market execution.
• Partner closely with Growth and Executive Leadership, translating market insight into actionable strategy, revenue alignment, and scalable execution across both new business and renewals.
• Shape SimpsonScarborough’s market narrative and positioning, ensuring our point of view, brand, and value are unmistakable and consistently expressed in ways that drive preference and demand.
• Lead thought leadership and external presence, serving as a credible, visible voice through original content, convenings, and industry engagement that reinforce differentiation and authority.
• Develop and lead the marketing team, setting a high bar for judgment, storytelling, operational rigor, and measurable outcomes.
