Automotive Test Cell Controls Engineer

Develop software utilizing the following components:

  • Windows Based- HMIs
  • Real-time computers running a RTOS
  • Instrumentation
  • PLC’s

Develop software using the following communication protocols:

  • EtherCAT
  • RS-232, RS-485, Modbus, Profibus
  • CAN, FlexRay, TCP/IP, UDP

 

  • Interact with customers for troubleshooting and debugging software, electrical, and mechanical problems.
  • Interact with customers for requirements specifications.
  • Work in an office and facility environment
  • Test stand equipment includes real-time data acquisition and control system, conditioning systems for coolant, fuel, oil and combustion air, dynamometers, PID controllers, throttle actuators and engine mounting hardware

Education and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in the automotive industry required.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience working with cross functional teams preferred.
  • Fluency in the English language is required.
  • Demonstrated record of driving results.
  • Strong problem solving, strategic thinking and analytical skills required.
  • Manage human and material resources to meet targets.
  • Able to relay technical information in a way your audience understands.
  • Aptitude to develop a High-Performance Team environment.
  • Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
  • Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications and the ability to become proficient any systems that we use (Concur, Kronos, etc.).
  • Flexibility to support service activity both off-site and outside of normal working hours.
  • Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area.
  • Working knowledge of the automotive industry preferred.
  • Experience in the vehicle testing and validation industry preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong time management, multi-tasking, and organization skills.
  • Able to function as part of a team, with members of varying job levels, and work cooperatively toward team goals.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, customers and suppliers.
  • Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area.
  • High level of financial literacy required.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience navigating difficult conversations to reach the desired outcome.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for traveling between multiple work sites as needed.
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Required on-site work as needed, per our Remote Work Policy.
  • Give and accept instructions and tasks in a positive manner, treating all co-workers with dignity and respect.
  • Consistently adhere to, and support all UTAC policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Physical Demands:

  • Exposure to industry accepted chemicals and noise. 
  • Regularly required to stand, reach, bend and move about the facility.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to lift and/or move materials as needed in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Requirements include, but are not limited to stand, walk, sit, twist, bed, life, see, speak, hear.
  • May require occasional travel (locally, nationally, internationally).
