Automation Engineer (n8n + AI + Data Operations)

As AI, automation, and data-driven decision-making reshape customer communication, we are expanding our engineering team to build the next generation of intelligent workflows and AI-powered systems.

We are looking for a resourceful Junior+ to Mid-level Automation Engineer (n8n + AI + Data Operations) based in Latin America to help design and maintain robust automation infrastructure that drives business efficiency and insights.

What you’ll be doing:

Design, build, and maintain resilient automation workflows using n8n as our primary orchestration tool.

Develop ETL pipelines that fetch, transform, and store API data into PostgreSQL/MySQL databases to power analytics and dashboards.

Build and integrate AI agents using LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic) to automate analysis and decision-making through effective prompt engineering and cost optimization.

Write JavaScript and Python scripts to handle complex logic and data transformations beyond standard automation nodes.

Implement monitoring, error handling, and alerting systems to ensure workflows remain reliable and self-healing.

Document systems and workflows to support long-term scalability and maintainability.

You’re our ideal candidate if you have…

1–3+ years of experience in software development, scripting, or technical automation.

Strong hands-on experience with n8n, including handling loops, batch processing, and complex JSON structures.

Solid SQL knowledge with the ability to design schemas and write efficient queries for analytics tools like Metabase.

Proficiency in JavaScript (Node.js) and Python for scripting and data processing.

Experience working with OpenAI APIs and structuring prompts to produce reliable outputs while managing usage costs.

Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.

Important qualifications include:

Ability to design reliable automation systems with proper error handling and monitoring.

Understanding of database-backed analytics workflows rather than API-only pipelines.

Comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment with high autonomy.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to operational reliability.

Nice to have skills:

Experience with PHP (our core platform is built in PHP).

Experience deploying or self-hosting n8n using Docker or cloud infrastructure (AWS).

Background in DevOps, Business Intelligence, or data engineering.
