Job Role: Atlassian Consultant / Systems Administrator

Compensation range: $2500 - $3000 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Role Overview: We are looking for a Mid-level Atlassian Consultant / Systems Administrator to deliver hands-on solutions across Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management. This role focuses on execution and delivery, working within project teams to configure, implement, and maintain practical systems. The ideal candidate has solid Atlassian experience, can work independently, translate requirements into working solutions, and ensure outcomes are well-documented and supportable. This is a delivery-focused role, not a coordination role, with an emphasis on building and improving platforms that are actively used by customers.

Key Responsibilities: 

Atlassian Solution Delivery

• Configure Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management to project requirements 
• Build workflows, issue types, fields, screens, permissions, and schemes 
• Design and implement automations to support delivery and service operations 
• Configure JSM portals, request types, SLAs, and queues 
• Apply agreed standards and delivery patterns consistently 

Project Execution and Collaboration 

• Operate as an active delivery team member 
• Translate requirements into practical system configurations 
• Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and delivery reviews 
• Support testing, deployment, and defect resolution 
• Work directly with delivery leads and customers as required

Documentation and Knowledge Transfer 

• Document configurations, decisions, and outcomes in Confluence 
• Produce customer-ready operational documentation 
• Support handover to support or managed services teams

Quality and Continuous Improvement 

• Follow delivery governance and standards 
• Raise risks or design concerns early 
• Identify opportunities to improve usability and maintainability 
• Contribute to templates, patterns, and internal playbooks

BUILDING AND SUPPORTING THE FUNCTION 

This role contributes directly to delivery quality and consistency. Mid-level Atlassian Consultants help establish reliable delivery patterns while supporting the growth and maturity of the Atlassian practice. The role suits someone comfortable owning their work, improving systems incrementally, and delivering dependable outcomes in a consulting environment.

Requirements

• 3–6 years’ experience delivering Atlassian solutions
• Strong hands-on experience with Jira and Confluence
• Practical experience with Jira Service Management
• Comfortable working independently within delivery teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

DESIRABLE SKILLS

• Atlassian certifications
• Experience in consulting or professional services
• Experience delivering ITSM or service operations solutions
• Exposure to Agile delivery environments
