About the Position:

As an Associate Underwriter, you will provide support to our Underwriting Team. This position is designed to teach you the ropes of property and casualty underwriting and how we work as a business. You will be responsible for reviewing inspections, approving policy changes, and responding to inbound calls and chats from agents.

 

This is a fast-paced position that will prepare you to become an Underwriter.

 

*This position is a 100% remote U.S. based opportunity that can be based in one of the following states only: AL, AZ, FL, GA, KY, MA, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI.

Some travel for day-to-day work, team meetings, and training will be required.

 

Key Responsibilities: (What you'll be asked to do)

  • Responsible for reviewing a high volume of new business and renewal inspection reports for risk eligibility across multiple states.
  • Issue non-renewals or cancellations and conduct reviews for reinstatements.
  • Partner with internal departments to accurately resolve requests from agents to maintain Swyfft’s expected service guidelines.
  • Accurately authorize endorsements through Zendesk as needed.
  • Providing a great customer experience by answering inbound calls and chat requests from agents.
  • Partner with internal team members on underwriting-related projects.

Some Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience working in the P&C or commercial insurance space.
  • You have previous experience in a customer service-oriented position.

 

Certifications or Licensing:

  • Producer license preferred, but not required.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent (GED) required.

 

Computer Skills:

  • Must be proficient with MS Office, Zendesk, and other internal insurance related programs, systems, or applications. (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Ability to communicate effectively using programs such as Slack & MS Teams. You are comfortable sharing screens and video chatting.

 

 Other:

  • Reliable high-speed internet connectivity required.
  • Designated quiet work from home space.

 

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year + benefits.

There is a different range applicable to specific work locations. This salary range is a good-faith estimate of what Swyfft may pay for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on skills, qualifications, and experience. The range reflects annual compensation (as applicable) and does not include bonuses or other incentives that the company may choose to pay at its sole discretion.
