Associate Product Manager

TLDR

Lead day-to-day operations of the Origination squad, collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to drive product initiatives in the fintech space for millions of businesses.

At SumUp, our mission with the Lending product is to empower merchants worldwide by providing loans that help their businesses thrive. To support that mission, we're looking for an Associate Product Manager to join our Lending tribe, embedded in the Origination squad - the team at the heart of how merchants discover, qualify for, and accept Cash Advance offers across multiple markets.

In this role, you will own the day-to-day operations of the Origination squad, working hands-on with software engineers, Product Managers, and business and operations stakeholders to drive the squad forward. You will collaborate closely with Growth and Operations teams to shape priorities, partner with engineers to translate requirements into great products, and engage with cross-functional stakeholders across the Lending tribe.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with stakeholders in Growth and Operations to gather requirements and shape product initiatives, documenting them through PRDs, RFCs, and process flows.
  • Translate business needs into product requirements for the engineering team, contributing actively to technical refinements and helping the squad find the best solutions.
  • Help manage the squad backlog, flagging trade-offs and contributing to discussions on what to work on next.
  • Run squad rituals including standups, refinements, and retrospectives, keeping the team aligned and unblocked.
  • Keep a close eye on product quality and new deliveries.
  • Track and communicate the impact of shipped improvements, and support ongoing initiatives.

You’ll Be Great for This Role If

  • You have 2+ years of experience in the tech industry in a role such as Product, Business Analytics, or Operations.
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are comfortable using data to make decisions and measure outcomes.
  • You are familiar with SQL or other data querying tools.
  • You are fluent in English, written and verbal.
  • You have excellent communication skills and can break down complex or messy topics into structured, concise narratives.
  • You have a genuine interest in software engineering and are motivated to collaborate with diverse functions - including engineers, data scientists, credit risk analysts, and operations managers.
  • You promote a collaborative and autonomous way of working within your team.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience in credit products, FinTechs or Payments.
  • Familiarity with agile ways of working.
  • Experience managing products or features that have delivered measurable value to users.
