A Better Opportunity
The Associate, Office of the CEO will act as a force multiplier for Better’s CEO, operating at the center of the company’s most critical strategic, financial, and operational priorities. This role is built for a highly driven, analytically rigorous professional with an investment banking or equivalent background who thrives in high-pressure, fast-paced environments and is motivated by ownership, accountability, and impact.
This is a full-time, on-site role in New York City, offering direct exposure to executive decision-making, board-level dynamics, and company-wide execution at scale.
Responsibilities
Strategic Analysis & Execution
Partner directly with the CEO on mission-critical initiatives, special situations, and time-sensitive decisions with material business impact
Conduct deep-dive financial, strategic, and operational analyses to support executive, leadership team, and board discussions
Build executive-ready materials (memos, decks, models, briefing documents, and talking points) with a premium on clarity, rigor, and precision
Translate high-level strategy into concrete execution plans, clear milestones, and measurable outcomes
CEO Operating Cadence & Leadership Effectiveness
Design tight agendas, track key decisions, and drive relentless follow-through on the company’s top priorities
Monitor progress across strategic initiatives, proactively identifying risks, bottlenecks, tradeoffs, and dependencies
Cross-Functional Project Leadership
Lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives spanning product, operations, finance, people, and go-to-market teams
Act as a neutral, analytically grounded integrator, aligning senior stakeholders and pushing initiatives to completion
Own ambiguous, high-stakes projects that require sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to execute under pressure with limited direction
Communication & Stakeholder Management
Serve as a trusted thought partner and sounding board to the CEO
Interface with senior leaders, board members, investors, and external stakeholders as needed
Shape executive messaging, internal communications, and company-wide narratives with clarity and conviction
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 2–5+ years of experience in top-tier investment banking, private equity, or similarly rigorous buy-side / advisory environments
Proven track record of outperforming in elite, high-expectation teams where precision, speed, and judgment are non-negotiable
Exceptional analytical horsepower — able to structure messy, ambiguous problems, build and pressure-test analyses, and drive clear, decisive recommendations
Demonstrated excellence producing CEO-, board-, and investor-grade materials under extreme time pressure with minimal iteration
Unusual stamina and grit; consistently delivers high-quality work through long hours, compressed timelines, and rapidly shifting priorities
Strong executive presence and commercial judgment; comfortable engaging with senior executives, board members, and sophisticated investors
Obsessive attention to detail paired with a zero-excuses ownership mindset; nothing drops, even when the pace is brutal
High judgment, discretion, and integrity; trusted with highly sensitive and confidential information
Thrives in environments that demand intensity, accountability, and independent thinking rather than explicit direction
Low-ego, high-output team player who raises the bar, pushes for excellence, and earns trust quickly
Intellectually relentless, self-directed, and motivated by hard problems, steep learning curves, and real responsibility
