Role Overview: 

We are looking for an Associate Merchandise Planner to join our growing Planning Team. This position contributes to the creation of Pre-season sales plans, management of in-season plans, and sales trend analysis. This role is ideal for someone passionate about data-driven decision-making and inventory optimization, with at least 1-2 years of U.S. retail planning experience. This position will report to the Director of Planning. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop Pre-Season sales, margin, and inventory plans (Gross/Net) across several storefronts/brands. Summarize the opportunity and risk of a product plan as it relates to trend and financial metrics: initial mark-up, average unit retail, average unit cost, net margin dollars/rate. 
  • Support the development of financial plans, forecasts, and inventory strategies to drive sales and profitability. 
  • Analyze In-Season sales and margin performance using standardized reports prepared weekly/monthly. 
  • Reforecast sales, receipts, and inventory on a monthly or bi-monthly basis and lead monthly OTB meetings highlighting future expectations. 
  • Analyze historical data, sales trends, and market conditions to optimize inventory levels and merchandise assortments. 
  • Analyze historical performance to propose flow strategies for large volume listings. 
  • Monitor open orders versus sales plan and receipts.  
  • Work closely with buyers to understand their planning needs and objectives. 
  • Participate in weekly team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and opportunities. 
  • Create ad hoc business recaps as needed for L21 management/vendor partners. 
     

Key Skills: 

  • 1-2 years of merchandise planning experience in a U.S. retail or e-commerce environment, preferably in apparel or outerwear. 
  • Advanced knowledge of retail math and seasonal product life cycles. 
  • Ability to create and execute comprehensive Pre-Season Plans aligned with sales, inventory, and turn targets. 
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, demonstrating the ability to analyze and interpret data and draw valid conclusions that show understanding and insight as well as a systematic approach to problem solving. 
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to multitask and flex among competing priorities. 
  • Advanced Excel skills (must be comfortable with macros, pivot tables and v-lookups). 
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote setting. 
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. 
  • Desire to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
