About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and customer‑focused Level 1 - IT Field Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will conduct IT Network Site Audits and assist with the installation and troubleshooting of network and IT systems across multiple locations in NSW.

You will work independently in the field, delivering high‑quality service and representing our organisation with professionalism. A strong commitment to travel is essential, as the role includes both metropolitan and regional site visits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive audits of IT Network infrastructure across metropolitan and regional client sites.
  • Assessing network equipment and cabling in client server rooms, UPS units.
  • Document asset inventory including switches, access points, and WAPS.
  • Compliance with organisational standards, policies, and security requirements.
  • Produce clear, structured audit reports with photos and diagrams utilising auditing software tools.
  • Work with internal networks team on commencement of Audits and during the audit phase to complete IT audits.
  • Work directly with Senior Network Engineer to assist with the implementation of new equipment and decommissioning of existing network equipment.

Technical Skills

  • Experienced in installing, replacing, and decommissioning routers, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Competent in assisting with racking equipment, mounting and securing equipment to industry standards.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling systems, patch panels, fibre, copper, and cable labelling practices.
  • Understanding of rack planning and power requirements.
  • Ability to interpret network diagrams, topology maps and equipment documentation.

Experience in Networks, Network Equipment & Site Audits

Network Experience

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing and switching principles.
  • Ability to diagnose LAN/WAN connectivity issues.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and packet analysis tools.

Network Equipment

  • Experience installation:
    • Cisco, HPE/Aruba or similar network hardware
    • Networking cables, network patching to patch panels and racks.
  • Skilled in tidy, standard-aligned rack layouts and cable management.

Commitment to Travel

  • Required to travel across metropolitan and regional NSW.
  • Comfortable with frequent site visits, varied schedules, and occasional overnight stays.
  • Demonstrates reliability and flexibility with daily schedule.
  • Able to travel effectively and manage time according to daily schedule.
  • Represents the organisation professionally while working independently in the field.

Qualifications & Certifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Networking, or a related field.
  • Test and Tag certification (Training will be provided)

 Selection Criteria – IT Field Engineer

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience conducting IT Site Audits, including documenting hardware, network equipment, cabling, Wi‑Fi and server room environments.
  • Strong technical capability in installing and decommissioning switches, routers and wireless access points.
  • Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching) with proven troubleshooting skills across LAN/WAN environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with Cisco, HPE/Aruba and similar network hardware.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple metro and regional sites, with excellent time‑management and initiative.
  • Required to travel frequently across NSW, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to produce clear reports and documentation.
  • Relevant qualifications, including a bachelor’s degree in IT (or related field).
