Associate Director/Sr Manager, R&D

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Associate Director / Senior Manager of R&D is a strong technical lead who manages research and development activities for new products and product improvements in NGS based diagnostic tests. They manage a team of direct reports to build, verify and validate robust products. They actively collaborate with cross functional teams and provide technical expertise to drive product performance.

The ideal candidate is a driven professional who maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories with an in-depth understanding of their applicability to oncology research.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Technical lead and NGS product development expert
  • Drives product and process enhancements with innovative solutions; makes fundamental scientific contributions toward producing robust products
  • Effectively communicates with R&D management and cross-functionally to drive strategic decisions
  • Experienced in building and managing technical teams
  • Technical lead for verification and validation of LDT per CAP/CLIA, NYS standards
  • Perform data analysis with advanced analytical and statistical tools (JMP, R, Python or similar)
  • Supervises the activities of direct reports or team members at the junior level and manages execution of feasibility and development studies

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD or BS/MS in molecular biology or related field
  • 6-8 years of post PhD biotech industry experience or >10 years of post BS/MS biotech experience for Associate Director level, 4+ years for Manager level
  • Prior experience in NGS, CLIA, high throughput automation is required
  • Prior experience managing teams of 3+ employees and extensive cross0functional collaboration required
The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
