The Opportunity: 

As the Associate Director, Clinical Business Operations, you will play a pivotal role in enabling the success of Relay Tx’s clinical programs.  You will partner with the cross-functional team members and leadership in Clinical Development, Finance, and Legal to assess the best fit for Relay Tx’s growing pipeline as you lead the development of outsourcing strategies as well as vendor selection and contracting, vendor budgeting and accruals, and vendor governance and relationship management. You will also be responsible for communicating with clinical study sites to negotiate and implement clinical site study budgets and payment terms. To be successful, you will be skilled at developing and leveraging relationships with external vendors for strong business results and know how to structure service agreements/contracts to drive accountability, quality and performance.  You will be experienced in outsourcing management, contract and budget negotiation, budget management, and vendor oversight.   This role will report into the Senior Director, Clinical Business Operations. 

Your Role: 

  • You will partner with key stakeholders to identify, engage and contract with clinical vendors. 
  • You will oversee the negotiation and execution of contractual agreements and change orders. 
  • You will manage the successful negotiation and ongoing management of clinical trial agreements with investigative sites, including providing status updates to key stakeholders during internal and external meetings as needed.  
  • You will proactively identify site contract/budget related issues or risks and escalate issues as needed to the appropriate stakeholders (Legal, Clinical Operations) to prevent delays in site activation timelines.  
  • You will provide support for financial planning and the financial management of clinical studies/programs, including developing more efficient processes to calculate budgets and track expenses. 
  • You will drive, challenge, and improve our existing systems and processes to improve performance. 

Your Background: 

  • You have 8+ years of experience in clinical business operations, clinical vendor outsourcing, management and/or clinical financial management. Sponsor experience is strongly preferred. 
  • You have experience with all aspects of vendor oversight or alliance management: from vendor selection and contracting to vendor performance management and relationship building. 
  • You have expertise working with cross-functional teams, within Clinical Development as well as Finance, Legal, and Quality. 
  • You have the expertise to effectively collaborate with key external stakeholders including the CRO and site personnel.  
  • You have a strong understanding of clinical development activities and finances with hands-on financial analytics experience. 
  • You have effective negotiation, project management and creative problem-solving skills. 
  • You are a motivated self-starter who is capable of flourishing in a fast-paced small company environment. 
  • You are pragmatic and able to manage multiple projects and needs effectively. 
  • You have outstanding verbal and written communication skills, allowing for an open and effective dialogue throughout the organization. 
  • You possess the ability to influence without authority, lead change and manage resistance to change. You must be able to solicit information, persuade others and shape outcomes. 
  • You have a strong work ethic, excellent problem-solving ability, and attention to detail and quality are critical to success. 

 

Estimated Salary Range: [$139,000 - $198,000].

The range provided above is based on what we believe to be a reasonable estimate for this job at the time of posting. Actual base salary will depend on a number of factors, including but not limited to, a candidate’s education, experience, skills and location.
