About the Role

The Sr. Data Steward, Innovation & Enablement serves as a senior steward and innovation partner for enterprise-critical data assets. This role focuses on developing, automating, and managing business rules, data quality standards, and scalable data solutions. Positioned at the intersection of governance, product, commercial, technology, and data operations, the strategist ensures that data is both trusted and usable. This role is essential in translating business needs into technical requirements, driving innovation through AI/ML experimentation, and evolving stewardship practices to meet the demands of modern data ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, document, and automate business rules, data definitions, and lineage for owned complex datasets.
  • Collaborate with product, technology, commercial, and data operations teams to co-develop scalable, governed data solutions that address real-world business and client needs.
  • Serve as the bridge between commercial, product, and technical teams by translating business and customer needs into clear, actionable data and solution requirements that address real-world business and client needs - ensuring requirements are accurately captured, documented, and prioritized to guide the development of scalable data operations and technical solutions that deliver measurable customer value.
  • Partner with the data governance to streamline stewardship processes using advanced tooling (e.g., rule engines, ML classification, data catalog/governance platforms).
  • Continuously profile and assess data quality, developing metrics, dashboards, and strategies for proactive improvement.
  • Identify and assess opportunities for innovation and automation across business processes using data.
  • Collaborate with technology and data operations teams to design and implement AI/ML-powered solutions that increase data usability, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Stay current on industry trends in data governance, analytics, and emerging technologies to drive innovative strategies.
  • Promote data literacy and responsible data use through education, onboarding, and innovation workshops.
  • Serve as a thought partner to stakeholders, translating business needs into data solutions and advocating for data as a strategic asset.
  • Define and track KPIs to measure the impact of innovation initiatives and data stewardship efforts.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of experience in data stewardship, governance, or data enablement with a focus on innovation.
  • Proven success driving automation or AI/ML-enhanced data processes and rule-based data management.
  • Experience translating business problems into scalable, data-driven solutions across multiple teams.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles, governance, quality frameworks, and data strategy.
  • Exposure to modern platforms (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Atlan), machine learning pipelines, and metadata management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience/Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or Business Analytics
  • Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies.
  • Industry certifications in data analytics or related areas.

This is a full-time exempt role with a base salary range of $85,000 - $125,000, plus benefits. A final compensation offer will ultimately be based on the candidate's location, skill level and experience, and the Company's pay equity.
