About the Role
Forma.ai is looking for an IT & Cloud Operations Specialist to support and evolve our internal technology environment across employee IT, identity and access management, SaaS administration, endpoint management, hardware lifecycle, automation, and internal operations.
This is a hands-on role based in our Toronto office. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, DevOps, you’ll be a key IT contact for employees in the office and across the company, while working with your manager and partnering closely with Engineering and DevOps teams on internal systems, automation workflows, cloud permissions, and operational tooling.
The core of this role is IT operations and systems administration. Over time, the right person will also gain practical exposure to CloudOps and DevOps-adjacent work, including infrastructure automation, cloud permissions, Terraform-managed resources, serverless workflows, CI/CD, monitoring, and containerized environments. We’re looking for someone who is excited to own the fundamentals of IT operations while steadily building deeper infrastructure and automation experience.
What You’ll Do
- Act as a key IT contact for Forma.ai’s Toronto office and distributed employees, supporting hardware, software, access, SaaS, network, and productivity-tool issues.
- Manage device provisioning, endpoint enrollment, MDM policies, hardware inventory, repairs, replacements, and secure device disposal.
- Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID / Azure AD, groups, shared mailboxes, device compliance, and related productivity-platform settings.
- Manage identity, permissions, SaaS provisioning, deprovisioning, and access changes using least-privilege principles.
- Improve onboarding, offboarding, access reviews, IT documentation, troubleshooting guides, and operational runbooks.
- Automate repetitive IT and access-management tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, APIs, or similar tools.
- Support selected internal cloud operations workflows, such as IAM updates, Terraform-managed resources, serverless jobs, scheduled automation, CI/CD, monitoring, or containerized workloads.
- Partner with Engineering and DevOps teams to improve infrastructure automation, deployment workflows, monitoring, reliability, and internal platform operations.
- Build CloudOps and DevOps skills through guided, hands-on exposure to infrastructure-as-code, cloud services, observability tools, and secure infrastructure practices.
30 / 60 / 90 Day Expectations
First 30 Days: Learn and Support
- Understand Forma.ai’s IT systems, SaaS tools, identity platforms, endpoint-management processes, and office IT setup.
- Shadow and assist with employee support, onboarding, offboarding, device provisioning, access management, and hardware inventory workflows.
- Review key documentation, runbooks, automation scripts, cloud workflows, and infrastructure repositories.
- Identify early opportunities to improve documentation, access workflows, hardware tracking, employee support, or operational runbooks.
First 60 Days: Own Core IT Workflows
- Independently handle common employee IT requests across hardware, software, SaaS, access, endpoint, and office technology issues.
- Own or co-own laptop provisioning, MDM enrollment, hardware inventory updates, and device lifecycle tracking.
- Support onboarding, offboarding, permission changes, SaaS provisioning, deprovisioning, and access validation.
- Improve key IT documentation and begin automating repetitive administrative tasks.
- Begin contributing to selected cloud and DevOps-adjacent workflows under guidance, such as IAM updates, automation scripts, serverless jobs, Terraform-managed resources, CI/CD workflows, or internal infrastructure maintenance.
First 90 Days: Own, Automate, and Improve
- Own day-to-day IT operations for the Toronto office and employee support workflows, with clear escalation paths and support from your manager and partner teams.
- Maintain accurate hardware inventory, procurement needs, replacement plans, and asset lifecycle processes.
- Improve onboarding, offboarding, access reviews, SaaS provisioning, and permission-change workflows.
- Implement automation for repetitive IT, access-management, reporting, or administrative tasks.
- Contribute to internal cloud operations by supporting IAM, Terraform, serverless workflows, scheduled automation, CI/CD, monitoring, or containerized workloads where appropriate.
- Partner with Engineering and DevOps to identify areas where infrastructure automation, documentation, observability, or reliability can be improved.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in IT operations, systems administration, technical operations, CloudOps, DevOps, or a similar hands-on technical support role.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365, Entra ID / Azure AD, Google Workspace, Okta, or similar identity and productivity platforms.
- Familiarity with endpoint management, MDM, device compliance, and macOS and/or Windows support.
- Experience managing user permissions, groups, role-based access, SaaS provisioning, offboarding, and least-privilege access controls.
- Ability to write or modify scripts using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar tools to automate administrative or operational tasks.
- Experience with IT asset management, procurement workflows, and hardware inventory systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, especially identity, permissions, serverless functions, compute, automation services, or monitoring tools.
- Exposure to Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, containerization, or cloud infrastructure concepts.
- Interest in building deeper CloudOps, Infrastructure, DevOps, or Platform Engineering skills over time.
