Transform conflict intelligence into compelling visual content for corporate audiences while collaborating across teams to create effective marketing materials.

About ACLED

At ACLED, we provide accurate, accessible and timely data and analysis to better inform decisions that reduce violent conflict. We cover the globe with our data collection and analysis, offering local insights for global questions. We are a remote organization with researchers and partners located across all crises and conflicts.

The role

We're seeking an Associate Corporate Content Designer to transform ACLED's conflict intelligence into compelling, accessible visual content for corporate audiences. Reporting to the Senior Editorial Officer, you'll work at the intersection of design, content strategy, and audience engagement to create polished multimedia assets that demonstrate the business value of conflict data to mining executives, risk managers, insurance analysts, corporate strategists, and business leaders. Working alongside the Marketing Communications & Content Manager, you'll bring words to life through design tailored to different audiences across ACLED’s channels: social media, web content, presentations, and client-facing templates.

This role is fully remote. We value motivated self-starters who thrive in remote-working teams and can collaborate effectively across time zones.

Specific responsibilities

The Associate Corporate Content Designer Will be responsible for the following tasks:

Visual Marketing Content Creation & Design

  • Create marketing materials that demonstrate why ACLED's products are a must-have for business decision-makers.
  • Design social media carousels and infographics that translate conflict data into actionable business intelligence.
  • Produce polished multimedia content (video tutorials, slide decks, one-pagers, client briefing templates) tailored for corporate audiences.
  • Develop compelling visual narratives that demonstrate return on investment, risk mitigation value, and competitive advantage.
  • Design newsletter templates for diverse stakeholder segments (executives, analysts, policymakers) that align with written content from the Marketing Communications team.
  • Build reusable design systems and templates that maintain brand consistency while enabling rapid content production.

Digital & Web Design

  • Design landing pages and web sections showcasing ACLED tools to specific audiences (mining sector, financial services, insurance, strategic risk sectors).
  • Collaborate with the web team to create visually compelling, conversion-optimized user journeys.
  • Audit and refine website visuals to eliminate friction points and clarify value propositions.
  • Ensure visual accessibility and responsiveness across devices.
  • Ensure your content and ACLED’s website, media, and social media teams’ content is optimized for SEO and GEO.

Marketing Operations & Asset Management

  • Create email marketing templates for other teams to use.
  • Send out marketing email campaigns.
  • Ensure lists are updated in Salesforce in collaboration with the Access and Revenue teams.
  • Maintain visual asset libraries and ensure brand consistency across all channels.
  • Track engagement metrics and optimize visual content based on performance data.
  • Coordinate with the External Affairs and Sales teams to align visual messaging across channels.

Skills and Experience

ACLED is seeking applicants who have the following skills and experience:

Essential Skills

  • Professional proficiency in design tools: Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to create executive-level presentations and B2B marketing collateral.
  • Strong visual storytelling skills — you understand hierarchy, whitespace, color theory, and how design serves content.
  • Portfolio demonstrating work for corporate or professional audiences.

Technical Competency

  • Experience designing email marketing templates (responsive HTML/CSS knowledge a plus).
  • Experience designing within existing web frameworks (WordPress, Web flow, or similar CMS platforms).
  • Experience with Asana, Salesforce, and Mailchimp.
  • Working knowledge of how to optimize visual content for different platforms and channels.
  • Knowledge of GEO and SEO/accessibility best practices for web and social media content design.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Native/fluent English (written and spoken) for collaborating on copy-design alignment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, especially when working with data, charts, and technical information.
  • Proven ability to follow creative briefs, manage multiple concurrent projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with experience juggling competing priorities.
  • Self-directed work style suited to remote collaboration across time zones.

Marketing & Audience Understanding

  • Experience in B2B marketing communications or corporate content design.
  • Understanding of how different audiences (executives vs. analysts, vs. policymakers) consume visual information.
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, persuasive visual narratives for non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with email marketing design best practices and conversion-focused design.

Bonus Qualifications

Highly Valued

  • Experience designing for technical, data, or analytics-driven products.
  • Background in international affairs, conflict analysis, risk intelligence, insurance, extractives, or strategic risk sectors.
  • Experience with video editing or motion graphics (Adobe Premiere, After Effects).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Flourish, Data wrapper, Tableau).
  • Understanding of copyright, attribution, and ethical practices for digital content.

Nice to Have

  • Additional languages: French, Arabic, Portuguese, or Spanish.
  • Experience in high-pressure environments (newsrooms, startups, crisis response).
  • Comfort with AI-assisted design workflows and emerging design tools.

Who Thrives Here

  • You're energized by making complex information visually accessible and actionable.
  • You take pride in craft — every slide, email template, and web page reflects attention to detail.
  • You're curious about how businesses use conflict intelligence to make decisions.
  • You're comfortable with ambiguity and can independently structure your work.
  • You collaborate seamlessly with copywriters, balancing creative vision with strategic messaging goals.
  • You seek feedback, iterate quickly, and continuously improve your output.
  • You're excited by the intersection of design, storytelling, and global security.
