This role is 100% on-site at our Tempe Town Lake HQ, Monday through Friday.

About the team and position

We are seeking a qualified Associate Analyst, Data Privacy & AI Governance.  As a member of Carvana’s Privacy, Data & AI Governance Team, you’ll be responsible for the completion of various projects and assignments related to the development, maintenance, and execution of Carvana’s Privacy and Governance program and operations. Your responsibilities include Data Inventory and Mapping, performing audits, automating and maintaining workflows, monitoring quality and completion of automated data classification and tagging, and collaborating with teams across Carvana to achieve results related to privacy and data governance operations.

Some of what you’ll be doing:

  • Conduct regular audits of data processes and workflows across platforms and systems to identify and address gaps in data governance and privacy compliance.
  • Document data flows, architectures, uses, and processes, as well as mitigations and residual risks, making information accessible and understandable for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Drive data lifecycle initiatives, specifically minimization and retention practices, to reduce legal liability without compromising data-driven business insights.
  • Support the automation of data categorization and tagging, report false positives to our vendor, and ensure that data is accessible to our stakeholders and leveraged in Data Inventory and Mapping, and Privacy Impact Assessments.
  • Validate information accuracy, troubleshoot issues, and document workflows.
  • Support the automation and maintenance of workflows within our Privacy Tools to support consumer privacy request responses and Cookie/Pixel management.
  • Monitor SLAs and support operational efficiencies.
  • Support stakeholder audits, regulatory inquiries, and internal reviews.
  • Maintain SOPs, playbooks, and related technical documentation.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate is savvy in a technical and business environment, comfortable working with cross-functional teams of all sizes and focuses, highly attentive to detail, focused on successfully serving partners, and a problem solver. This position requires frequent interaction with Carvana’s business, technology, engineering, security, and legal teams and requires clear communication that presents complex information in a concise and easy-to-understand manner.

We also look for:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Experience with Data Privacy and Governance tools.
  • Knowledge of privacy-related technologies (cookies, pixels, etc.)
  • Experience with process improvement

We’d be thrilled if you also have: 

  • Privacy credentials and certifications, such as a CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or CIPM 
  • Project management experience
  • Auditing experience
