WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Manager of Supply & Demand Operation to execute the daily operational tasks necessary for achieving a stable and cost-effective electricity supply across all business areas, including power market trading, as we strengthen our entire power supply and demand operation system.
This role is charged with the critical responsibility of ensuring the accuracy of supply plans, monitoring real-time market conditions, and managing regulatory submissions under the direction of Manager of Supply & Demand Operation. We also seek a dedicated professional who can bridge the gap between technical operations and customer service. As we expand into external sales, you will play a crucial role in ensuring seamless service delivery to our external partners and customers, managing the operational lifecycle from onboarding to billing with precision and care.
This recruitment is necessitated by the requirement to further enhance our supply and demand operation system for the launch of our out-of-area electricity retail business, leveraging the experience gained from our existing business foundation (e.g., as a Specified and Registered Specified Electricity Transmission and Distribution Utility, etc.).
Crucially, this includes establishing and operating our power market trading capabilities in-house, as part of strengthening our power procurement functions.
This position reports to the Supply & Demand Operations Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
・Execute the day-to-day power supply and demand management activities necessary for both the existing regional business and the launch and stable operation of the new out-of-area retail business, including demand forecasting, generation planning, and electricity trading
・Conduct actual electricity trading on JEPX (Spot, Intraday, etc.) and perform real-time monitoring and adjustment to effectively manage and minimize imbalance exposure across the entire portfolio (in-area and out-of-area)
・Support the regulatory compliance efforts, including preparing necessary documentation for the acquisition and maintenance of licenses related to the ongoing operation and expansion of the business (EBA, OCCTO, etc.)
・External Customer Operations & Care: Manage the operational onboarding of new external customers (switching process), ensuring accurate registration with OCCTO. Act as the primary operational point of contact for customer inquiries regarding usage data and billing.
・Sales Support & Data Analysis: Support business development activities by preparing electricity usage simulations, cost estimates, and supply-demand balance reports required for sales proposals
・Billing & Settlement Operations: Oversee the calculation of electricity charges for external customers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in billing processes. Coordinate with finance teams for payment reconciliation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
・Practical Experience (3+ Years):
・3+ years of practical experience in daily electricity supply and demand management, including in-house demand forecasting, generation planning, JEPX trading, and OCCTO plan submission
・Market & System Skills:
・Direct experience in JEPX actual trading (Spot/Intraday) and real-time monitoring for imbalance management
・Knowledge of and practical experience using Energy Management System (EMS) software or related supply & demand optimization tools
・Regulatory & Business Knowledge:
・Knowledge of Japanese electricity markets and regulations, including energy services business (Ancillary Services / Capacity Market)
・Experience supporting compliance efforts related to the EBA and OCCTO submissions for existing operations
・Experience in electricity retail operations (CIS operation, switching procedures, billing calculation) or sales support in the energy sector
・Ability to analyze customer load data and create simple visualizations or reports for external stakeholders
・Language :

NICE TO HAVES
・Specific License & Compliance Experience:
・Experience in preparing required documentation for licensing, filings, or administrative procedures in connection with the Electricity Business Act and other related regulations
・Experience or knowledge regarding the operational challenges and requirements specific to a Specified and Registered Specified Electricity Transmission and Distribution Utility
・Advanced Technical & Market Skills:
・Practical experience in implementing or improving energy supply and demand optimization programs to reduce energy demand/supply imbalances
・Business level English proficiency, sufficient for communication in global projects or with international vendors
・Experience working at a Power Producers and Suppliers (PPS), particularly in roles that involve direct interaction with end-users or sales agents
・Experience using CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and/or CIS (Customer Information System) tools to manage customer data and contract details
