This is a part-time, benefits eligible, salaried position with a hiring range of $39,099 - $48,879 per year. This is a 27 hour per week position, worked only during the academic year (44 weeks).

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop community-connected teaching, learning, and research opportunities within the Environmental Studies curriculum, primarily for ENVS 0401.
  • Develop and maintain meaningful, long-term, and reciprocal partnerships with a range of community partners in Vermont and beyond.
  • In partnership with Environmental Studies colleagues during the fall and spring semester, lead in-class exercises and reflections and provide feedback on drafts of student reports as well as group project management.
  • Assess both student learning outcomes as well as the effectiveness of project collaborations in supporting and advancing the initiatives of our partners.
  • Connect and consult with colleagues in the Center for Community Engagement (CCE) and the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Research (CTLR) to share and promote best practices in community-based teaching and research.
  • Function as a resource clearinghouse for materials ensuring effective and successful community-based project collaborations.
  • Stay current with the best-practices literature and actively engage with community engagement professional networks.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to facilitate the development of community-based projects that meet both community needs and well as course-specific learning goals.
  • Demonstrated understanding of best practices for higher education community-based experiential learning programs.
  • Can build relationships effectively with faculty, staff, and community partners.
  • Effective in project & program design, oversight, and coordination.
  • Proven organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to work on and coordinate several projects at once.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and experience working in collaborative teams.
  • 5+ years of related community engagement in a higher education setting.
  • Relevant Master’s degree preferred.

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, some travel required.
