Architect - Viewer experience

Job Summary: As an Architect in the Foundations Org at JioHotstar, you will define the long-term technical vision and lead the evolution of core platforms, including the server-guided UI orchestration system. You’ll dive deep into challenges of scale and speed that directly impact video viewer funnel conversions and reach, helping make JioHotstar ubiquitous. This role involves designing scalable, fault-tolerant, and cost-efficient systems for massive and unpredictable LIVE traffic, collaborating closely with engineering, product, and data teams, and mentoring engineers while driving architectural excellence across the organization. We own the end-to-end user journey—from first app launch to daily habit loops—across Search, Personalization, Watch Experience, Interactivity, and more. From cutting app startup time to scaling for unpredictable LIVE spikes, we build the core infra and platforms that power all of JioHotstar. We own Identity, Performance, CRM infra, design systems, and cross-platform consistency—enabling every other team to build boldly and ship reliably. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Define and drive long-term architecture for platform systems across teams

Lead the management of operational excellence, focusing on efficiency in cost and operations, and providing guidance for the team’s improvement

Ensure the quality of the overall architecture and design of various systems and components

Simplify complex problems into straightforward solutions

Develop technical roadmaps for future directions and technological advancements

Understand system interdependencies and limitations to facilitate decision-making and conflict resolution within teams

Take ownership of building and launching key components and systems

Influence teams technically to enhance productivity and effectiveness, while also mentoring on advanced technical matters for career development

Facilitate rapid prototyping to identify and eliminate blind spots

Preferred education and experience:

Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science or a related field with 10+ years of experience in software development
