Application support Developer

Role Overview 

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Application Support / Developer to join our team. This hybrid role combines hands-on application support with ongoing development work, ensuring our systems remain stable, efficient, and continuously improved. The ideal candidate will be comfortable troubleshooting complex issues, collaborating with cross functional teams, and contributing to the enhancement of existing applications. 

Key Responsibilities 

Application Support 

  • Provide 2nd/3rdline support for business critical applications. 

  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve incidents within agreed SLAs. 

  • Monitor application performance and proactively identify potential issues. 

  • Manage service requests, problem tickets, and change requests. 

  • Liaise with vendors, internal teams, and stakeholders to ensure timely resolution. 

  • Maintain documentation, knowledge bases, and support guides. 

Development & Enhancement 

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance existing applications using approved technologies. 

  • Write clean, efficient, and well documented code. 

  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to development best practices. 

  • Assist in the design and implementation of new features and system integrations. 

  • Support release cycles, deployments, and environment management. 

  • Automate repetitive tasks and improve operational workflows. 

Skills & Experience 

Essential 

  • Strong experience in application support or a similar technical support role. 

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., C#, Java, NET). 

  • Experience with SQL and relational databases. 

  • Understanding of APIs, web services, and integration patterns. 

  • Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management). 

  • Ability to analyse logs, debug issues, and trace application behaviour. 

  • Excellent communication skills and a customer focused mindset. 

  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. 

  • knowledge of AI technologies

Desirable 

  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP). 

  • Exposure to containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes). 

  • Background in Agile/Scrum environments. 

  • Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
