About the Role: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Application Engineer with expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering systems to lead and manage projects from inception to completion. This role will involve overseeing all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered on time, identifying customer needs, and providing technical support throughout the sales process.  The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing mechanical and electrical projects, a passion for solving complex problems, coordination of projects across multiple departments, and the ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.  

Essential Functions:

Sales Support & Technical Expertise: 

  • Act as the project technical expert for mechanical and electrical products and services, providing in-depth product knowledge to customers. 
  • Work closely with the sales team to strengthen opportunities and close sales. 
  • Prepare and present technical proposals, product demonstrations, and solution recommendations to clients. 
  • Collaborate with customers to define project requirements and ensure alignment between customer expectations and product offerings. 

Product Solutions & Specifications: 

  • Analyze customer requirements and recommend mechanical and electrical system solutions to meet their needs. 
  • Assist in the creation of detailed product specifications, ensuring technical accuracy and feasibility. 
  • Work closely with the engineering, product management, and project management teams to ensure customer requirements are accurately translated into product designs and solutions. 

Project Coordination & Support: 

  • Support the applications engineering team by providing technical guidance and ensuring that the mechanical and electrical systems are correctly specified and implemented. 
  • Provide pre-sales technical support and ensure client satisfaction. 
  • Provide technical training and support to the sales team, ensuring they have the knowledge to effectively sell products. 
  • Continuously improve product knowledge and technical skills through internal and external training opportunities. 
  • Identify project risks, promote mitigation strategies, and coordinate timely resolution of issues. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication on project status, risks, and timelines. 
  • Conduct regular project status meetings and provide updates to senior leadership and clients. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or 3 years of equivalent experience. 
  • 2+ years of experience in project management, with a focus on mechanical and electrical systems (e.g., Electrical motor systems, VFD systems, HVAC). 
  • Proven experience supporting complex cross-functional teams. 
  • Strong technical background with the ability to understand mechanical and electrical systems. 
  • Experience in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Asana). 
  • Excellent communication, team building, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent experience. 
  • Experience in construction or industrial projects involving both mechanical and electrical components. 
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., NEC, ASHRAE, DOE).
