Your Role
The Costing function plays a critical role in Brooks overall success and profitability by understanding each cost component of our products and developing tools and reporting to manage costs and identify opportunities to create efficiencies to optimize product margins.
The Apparel Costing Manager, Asia is responsible for managing product cost development from concept through production across multiple apparel categories. In this role, you will be responsible for re-establishing the costing framework and structure for our Apparel product lines. This role partners closely with product development, sourcing, and Asia‑based vendor partners to ensure margin targets are achieved while maintaining product quality and operational efficiency. The position requires strong costing expertise, strong analytical, excellent negotiation and communication skills, and the ability to lead or collaborate with US teams supporting pre‑costing, production costing, and vendor costing data validation.
The Apparel Costing Manager will also act as a consultant within Apparel Team by providing day to day costing expertise, identifying, prioritizing, and implementing cost savings initiatives to hit seasonal product target FOBs and Margin. In this role, you will also develop pre-costing tools and deliver training programs to Apparel Product Team in collaboration with Asia vendors to enable design for manufacturing and to achieve optimal product cost.
Key Responsibilities
Costing Management & Analysis
Work with Senior Director, Sourcing and Costing to re-design the Brooks Apparel costing framework including the process and modules in order to effectively and efficiently manage all the product categories, seasonal target FOB’s and seasonal margin goals.
Lead the review and continuous improvement of cost sheet templates to ensure they are standardized, scalable, and aligned with the needs of all apparel product categories.
Manage and analyze apparel cost estimates from development through final production, ensuring costing meets target margins and company requirements.
Conduct cost comparisons across gender, silhouette, and country of origin to optimize margins.
Generate accurate costing models to influence Sourcing allocation and product development decisions.
Continuously evaluate and look for opportunities to optimize our costing tools, models and processes.
Conduct onsite motion studies, validate processes and pattern yields, and serve as the primary on‑the‑ground representative for the U.S. Development team
Vendor & Factory Collaboration
Work closely with US development and US sourcing teams and factory partners to support pre‑costing, production costing, and cost confirmation processes.
Evaluate vendor cost capabilities, negotiate cost standards, and cost component breakdowns when needed.
Champion manufacturing excellence programs focusing on efficiency, workflow improvement, and transparency across Asia factories.
Work closely with HQ Director, Apparel Development to ensure all the seasonal pre-costing/costing tools and standards are implemented and followed across all factories in different regions/countries.
Scale and standardize costing processes across factory partners and vendors, lead execution on implementation of improvement.
Data, Reporting & Cost Optimization
Provide cost trend analysis, including labor, materials, and macroeconomic factors affecting apparel costs.
Prepare high‑level cost analysis, business reports, and recommendations for senior leadership to inform sourcing decisions and product build strategies.
Drive adoption of automation, digital costing tools, and AI‑driven costing models to improve accuracy and speed of cost decision‑making.
Cross‑Functional Leadership
Build strong partnerships with product development, sourcing, planning, and apparel business analyst teams to align cost objectives and margin targets.
Collaborate with high‑performing, multi‑country teams across Asia to drive cost, quality, and operational excellence.
Provide analytical support and communicate key costing insights to cross‑functional stakeholders.
Develop costing tools and models for development teams to identify costing tradeoffs and enable them to make more informed decisions, improving product build strategies and driving cost reduction initiatives.
Identify key cost drivers and keep management informed of potential impacts
including challenging existing costing standards & policies and driving continuous improvement.
Qualifications
5+ years of apparel development and costing experience with strong understanding of apparel construction, textiles, and production processes.
Strong analytical skills, proficient in Excel and margin analysis tools; experience with cost component breakdowns and margin reports.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and cross‑functional influencing skills.
Ability to work with Asia‑based factories and teams, with understanding of manufacturing cost structures and regional sourcing environments.
Experience working in a global sourcing organization with multi‑country vendor networks.
Background in finance, business, apparel production, or supply chain analytics.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence at all levels of the organization
Excellent communication skills Fluency in Mandarin (written and spoken) in both local language and English.

Willingness to travel up to 25% (domestic and international)
