AP/AR Accountant

As an AP/AR Accountant, you play a key role within Smappee’s finance team. You are responsible for managing the Procure-to-Pay process for several group entities in Belgium and internationally, while also supporting the Order-to-Cash process. With your structured mindset and hands-on approach, you help ensure accurate, efficient and future-proof financial operations.

Responsibilities

• You act as the main point of contact for supplier-related accounting questions.
• You process purchase invoices and employee expense reports accurately and timely.
• You perform daily bank synchronisations and validate bank transaction reconciliations.
• You prepare and execute payment batches for suppliers and employees.
• You maintain, review and improve Procure-to-Pay procedures.
• You follow up with customers and correctly register incoming payments.
• You maintain and review Order-to-Cash procedures and reporting.
• You support ad hoc projects and assist the finance team and CFO with general accounting matters.
• You contribute to process improvements and optimisation within the ERP environment (Odoo).

Requirements

• You have at least 2 years of experience in a similar accounting role, preferably in an international context.
• You have a solid understanding of general accounting principles and VAT regulations.
• You have a very good to excellent knowledge of English to support our international operations.
• You are a collaborative team player who takes ownership and works proactively.
• You are able to work independently and complete tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
• You communicate clearly and enjoy working closely with colleagues.
• You are interested in experimenting with and adopting future-proof digital finance tools.
• You are able to structure your weekly operational tasks and think ahead within monthly closing timelines.
• Experience in working in one or more ERP systems is a plus.
