⭐ Mission
Join us as a Financial Crime Intern in Milan to protect Qonto and our customers from financial risks. As part of our Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) unit (our 2nd line of defense), you will help keep our anti-financial crime framework robust as our customer base and local scope grow. You will be supported in this mission by Michele and Sara, who co-lead the unit.
👩💻🧑💻 As a Financial Crime Intern at Qonto, you will
Investigate and Analyze: Analyze complex cases escalated by our 1st line of defense, running deep-dive investigations into client structures, and reviewing documentation to detect suspicious patterns.
Contribute to Executive Reporting: Draft clear, well-reasoned reports and PPT presentations for Top Management and the Board to consolidate key AFC insights.
Monitor Remediation: Track remediation activities and ensure their proper progress, maintaining clear follow-ups on open items to ensure timely closure.
Drive Strategic Initiatives: Participate in ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives to enhance the Anti-Financial Crime framework based on the team's needs.
Details: This is a full-time, 6-month internship based in our Milan office.

Methodologies: Strong onboarding and hands-on mentorship. You will learn to work with our continuous improvement methodologies to ramp up quickly and gain increasing autonomy.
Tools we use: You will heavily rely on PowerPoint for drafting executive presentations, alongside our internal AFC dashboards and transaction monitoring software.
Recent Projects: You will contribute to strategic ad hoc projects to continuously enhance our local compliance frameworks.
Rapid learning curve: After 6 months, you’ll have built meaningful expertise in financial crime topics, a powerful launchpad for your career.
🤝 About your future managers
You will report to Michele Guerrera and Sara Zaccaria, who co-lead our Anti-Financial Crime unit. Michele has been with Qonto for 5+ years and grew from Analyst to Lead. Sara brings deep expertise in AML regulation, with specialized knowledge in crypto and KYC/KYB. Together, they foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and autonomy, and invest in knowledge-sharing so you can grow quickly while owning your day-to-day.

Experience & Academic Background: You are a currently enrolled student or recent graduate, preferably studying Law, Economics, or a related field.
Languages: Fluent English and Italian is a prerequisite.
Mindset: You are a fast learner with a flexible mindset, intellectual curiosity, determination, and a strong team-builder spirit.
Analytical & Problem Solving: You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a rigorous attention to detail.
Communication: You have strong written communication skills and the ability to draft clear, compelling PPT presentations for management.
