Local talent. National support. One year of impact.

The American Connection Corps (ACC) is a mission-driven, upskilling, multi-generational talent organization powered by Lead For America (LFA). We connect individuals—whether they are recent graduates, career changers, retirees, or students taking a gap year—with locally rooted organizations working to strengthen communities through digital access, economic opportunity, and social connection.

About the American Connection Corps

Where we live increasingly determines which people, places, and possibilities we can access. ACC exists to change that. Each year, we recruit and place more than 100 members across 30 states to expand economic opportunities, bridge social networks, and open new career pathways.

ACC Members come from all walks of life. Whether they are:

  • A gap year student building real-world skills and community experience before college,
  • A career transitioner using service as a bridge to new opportunities,
  • A retiree bringing a lifetime of expertise to mentor and lead, or
  • A recent graduate launching their career through impact work

ACC Members are united by their shared commitment to strengthening the places they call home.

Requirements

Host Organization Eligibility

American Connection Corps host organizations must be one of the following:

  • A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization,
  • A government entity (local, tribal, state, or federal), or
  • A faith-based organization focused on non-religious activities.

Funding and Partnership Details

Hosting an ACC Member requires a financial partnership. Host sites provide a local match to federal AmeriCorps and philanthropic contributions. The standard host site cost is $35,000 per Member per year. This fee supports member stipends, training, supervision, and national program infrastructure.

American Connection Corps Members are placed with a partnering host organization and a dynamic local supervisor/mentor, where their personal skill sets and passions can be unleashed to help move the community forward. Members commit to a year of service, focusing on issues critical to economic opportunity, agriculture and natural resources, and/or health and social capital -- vital anchors to a thriving community. While members build critical capacity within these different institutions, they also work to bridge the digital divide across their respective fields as part of the American Connection Corps’ key national campaign.
