Airframe Design & Analysis Engineer - (SJ2026GA)

TLDR

Support the development of structural airframe assemblies, applying design for manufacturing concepts and working closely with engineering teams to ensure compliance and performance.

What You’ll Do 

 

  • Support the development of major structural airframe assemblies from preliminary design through certification, and manufacturing ramp up. 
  • Apply in-depth understanding of load paths, design best practices, and hand calcs to design robust structural configurations. 
  • Apply design for manufacturing concepts to create designs that are cost effective and easy to fabricate at rate. 
  • Perform composite sandwich construction and adhesive paste bonding. 
  • Assist in the development of company standards for composite and metallic part CAD models and drawings. 
  • Work closely with other engineers on the design, stress and M&P teams. 
  • Provide technical guidance on design concepts (risk vs. cost vs. performance). 
  • Support manufacturing to validate and verify that designs meet requirements and specifications.

 

Minimum Education requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineering.

 

Minimum Experience requirement: Aerospace Engineer, Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or related job title in which three (3) years of closely related experience in design, analysis and manufacturing of composite aerostructures and lightweight structures (aircraft, spacecraft, other high performance vehicles), including design of large bonded structures, sandwich construction, hand laid prepreg carbon fiber, machined metal, and manufacturing of composite part.

 

Alternate Requirements: Master's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineering with (1) year experience as an Aerospace Engineer, Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or related job title in which closely related experience in design, analysis and manufacturing of composite aerostructures and lightweight structures (aircraft, spacecraft, other high performance vehicles), including design of large bonded structures, sandwich construction, hand laid prepreg carbon fiber, machined metal, and manufacturing of composite part.

 

Special Requirements: Must have CAD skills in NX, Solidworks, Catia or Creo. Must have knowledge of FAA aircraft certification requirements for Part 23 aircraft and PDM systems, FEMAP and HYPERWORKS.

 

Travel Requirement: Up to 25% domestic and international travel.
