Lodestar Consulting is currently seeking multiple Air Force FIAR Senior Analysts to join our team in support of our growing Department of Defense (DoD) client engagements. As a FIAR Senior Analyst on these engagements, you may be aligned with supporting tasks associated with audit remediation, financial reporting, and/or data analytics. In these roles, your responsibilities could include (but not limited to):

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Government PoCs to perform audit response, audit remediation, internal controls, financial processes, and/or accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statements of Federal Financial Accounting Standards (SFFAS), and/or relevant Department of the Treasury and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) policies
  • Execute day-to-day research, analysis, and communication at the direct of team leads and managers
  • Demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills as significant time is spent drafting/updating communication artifacts (for example, Standard Operating Procedures, Desktop Guides, whitepapers, etc)
  • Understand the end-to-end business processes of the Department of the Air Force and applying relevant GAAP
  • Demonstrate awareness and knowledge of Federal Government’s financial and management responsibilities
  • Draft and preparing project deliverables
  • Prepare and reviewing financial statements and footnotes
  • Perform reconciliations and other financial analyses
  • Perform risk assessments in accordance with OMB Circular A-123 and the FIAR Guidance
  • Identify the conditions and issues from maintaining generating financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Proposing new or revised accounting policies and procedures as well as implementation strategies to address audit findings
  • Audit Remediation:
    • Analyze audit findings, validate corrective-action plans, identify root-cause issues, and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure all remediation steps are fully implemented and properly documented
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Develop sections of the Agency Financial Report (AFR), support other federal financial‑reporting requirements, and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of financial statements and disclosures
  • Data Analytics:
    • Lead the design and execution of data driven solutions to improve financial management performance
    • Develop dashboards, predictive models, and trend analyses to support decision making, identify risks, and optimize resource allocation
    • Ensure data integrity, interprets complex datasets, and translates insights into actionable recommendations for leadership

Across all areas, consultants will manage progress reporting, set priorities, and mentor staff to enhance organizational performance, improve financial management practices, and maintain strong governance standards

Required Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum 2.5+ years of accounting and/or audit experience
  • Management/leadership experience
  • Knowledge of Air Force General Funds or Air Force Capital Funds business processes and systems
  • Experience in A-123 and internal controls, external financial statement audits, or related experience
  • Proficient skills in MS Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with DoD clients

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university in Accounting or Business Administration with a major in Accounting
  • Preferred Certifications: CPA (or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam), Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM), or other relevant certification

Security Clearance:

  • Must have (or the ability to obtain) a DoD Secret clearance (requires US citizenship)
