AI Workflow Optimisation for 2D and 3D Media (Internship)

We are looking for an intern to join ATG MediaLab in Noordwijk, The Netherlands for a period of 6 months.  

ATG MediaLab is a communication studio that operates at the intersection of creative media, technology, and science. As part of ATG Europe, it specializes in producing high-end 2D and 3D animations, visualizations, and interactive media to explain complex systems—particularly in high-tech sectors such as space, aerospace and semiconductors. With over 25 years of experience, ATG MediaLab has supported more than 50 missions, including many for the European Space Agency (ESA), by transforming technical content into compelling visual stories.  

The typical MediaLab workflow consists of concept development, storyboarding, asset creation, animation, rendering, and post-production, using tools such as Maya, Zbrush, After Effects, Davinci Resolve and Photoshop. Given the state-of-the-art AI tools available nowadays, we want to explore how such tools can be used to:  

• Optimize our current workflow in terms of time, effort, and cost;   

• Potentially replace or automate certain parts of the workflow.  

You will have the opportunity to analyse existing AI tools, develop proof-of-concepts, and provide recommendations for implementation. Think of applications in the areas of image and video editing, content generation, project management, or data analysis. 

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage). 

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

• Carry out an inventory of relevant AI tools and technologies; 

• Analyse the current workflow within ATG MediaLab; 

• Develop a proof-of-concept of prototype;  

• Report findings and recommendations to the team.

Requirements

Please ensure that your CV clearly explains how you meet the mandatory requirements. If it doesn’t align completely with the essential criteria, it could result in rejection. 

• Candidates must be currently enrolled in a relevant HBO/WO education in The Netherlands; 

• Experience in 2D and/or 3D media productions;  

• Affinity with AI, machine learning and/or workflow optimisation;  

• Independ, inquisitive and creative mindset;  

• Experience with tools such as Python, GPT or other AI platforms is considered an asset; 

• Fluency in English, both written and spoken;  

• Fluency in Dutch, both written and spoken is an asset.
