Mission of Role/Position Summary:

The AI Solutions Support Specialist will play a key role in developing innovative AI-driven tools and applications designed to optimize and maximize efficiencies across both internal operations and project-based use cases. This position supports the Data, Technology & Innovation (DTI) team by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows, enhance business processes, and creatively address challenges faced by clients and staff through tailored AI solutions. This role will contribute to the design, prototyping, and implementation of AI systems that drive automation, support data-driven decision making, and facilitate business continuity. The role also offers exposure to cross-functional collaboration, with opportunities to observe and participate in meetings and discussions that illuminate how AI technologies can empower organizational success. Through hands-on experience, this role will gain practical skills in applying AI to solve real-world problems and support overall organizational efficiency and innovation. 

Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:

• Support the DTI team in identifying and developing AI-driven solutions to enhance business processes and workflow efficiencies.
• Contribute to the design, prototyping, and implementation of AI tools and applications for internal and client use cases.

• Engage in research to stay informed about emerging AI trends and best practices relevant to organizational needs.

• Maintain accurate records of research, documentation, and project progress throughout the internship.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Technical proficiency in AI and Data Science: Understanding of AI concepts such as machine learning, natural language processing, and automation; familiarity with data analysis tools and platforms.
• Programming and prototyping skills: Experience with programming languages relevant to AI (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, Python, R); ability to assist in designing, prototyping, and implementing AI-driven solutions.
• Analytical mindset: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to identify opportunities for workflow optimization and automation.
• Research competence: Ability to research, analyze, and synthesize information about AI frameworks, best practices, and emerging trends.
• Project management and organization: Capable of managing time independently, organizing tasks, and tracking progress on multi-week projects with minimal supervision.
• Collaboration and cross-functional communication: Excellent interpersonal skills, open to learning from professionals across departments, and able to contribute to collaborative meetings and discussions.
• Documentation and reporting: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document findings, processes, and recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Adaptability and initiative: Willingness to engage in shadowing opportunities, contribute to various projects, and adapt to evolving business needs.

Expected Hours of Work:

Schedule may vary. Work on evenings and weekends may be required. Dependability and punctuality are paramount.

Travel Requirements:

• Must be willing to travel and deploy to client sites for extended periods of time.

Physical Demands:

• Mobility required on-site with clients.
• Sitting or standing for hours at a time.
• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time if needed.
• Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. repetitively throughout the day and as needed.

Working Environment:

• All AC Disaster Consulting (ACDC) positions are remote work site positions with the home location agreed upon at time of hire.
• If the remote work site locations change, ACDC Human Resources must be made aware, and leadership needs to approve any site changes for business registration and payroll tax purposes.

Requirements

Experience/Education Required:

• Must reside within reasonable local daily commuting distance to Denver, CO. While this position is remote, some onsite work is required.
• Currently pursuing or having graduated with at least a bachelor’s degree in AI Engineering or related field from an accredited higher education program (University of Colorado – Boulder program preferred).
• Demonstrated understanding of AI concepts, such as machine learning, natural language processing, and automation.
• Demonstrated familiarity with data analysis tools and platforms.
• Demonstrated experience with programming languages relevant to AI (e.g., Python, R).

Preferred Experience:

• Educational GPA of 3.0 or higher from an accredited higher education program.
• Participation in a computer science or cyber competition (e.g., CCDC, NCL) or equivalent hands-on challenge is a plus.
• Experience with hands-on labs or simulations involving AI, software engineering, or intelligent design.
• Previous internship or practical experience in AI, data science, or business process improvement.
• Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams.
• Exposure to project management or administrative support roles.
• Experience in delivering presentations or capstone projects to organizational leadership.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.

Additional Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older. 
• Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsored visa is required. We are not able to employ those located outside of the US. 
• Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment.
